Abstract: An eccentric gear pump for use in pumping a variety of fluids. The pump has conventional plungers reciprocably positioned in a cylinder and includes a drive case with a rotatable drive shaft therein. The driven shaft is connected eccentrically to drive gears in a plurality of gear assemblies. Each gear assembly also includes a driven gear which has a yoke assembly eccentrically connected thereto. The yoke assembly is connected to a corresponding plunger. Rotation of the drive gear results in rotation of the driven gear which in turn causes reciprocation of the yoke assembly and plunger. Cam rollers are attached to opposite sides of the driven gear, and the cam rollers ride closely within a cam groove in a cam track on opposite sides of each driven gear. The interaction of the cam roller and the cam groove limits movement of the yoke assembly and piston to substantially purely reciprocal motion with respect to the drive case. Each gear assembly includes a pressure lubricated gear case.

  • Patent number: 4900231
Abstract: Engine (10) shaft power provides a first input (16) for a differential gear box (18). This input (16) is additive in a gear box (18) to a second input (30) from an electric motor (32). The output (22) of the gear box (18) powers a rotor (24) of an auxiliary compressor (12) which produces compressed air for providing needed pneumatic services aboard the aircraft. Compressor rotor speed is sensed (sensor 40) and used for controlling operating current (via controller 42 and frequency converter 44) to the electric motor (32). Motor (32) is an electronically commutated brushless electric motor having a high torque output which is substantially linearly proportional to the input current.

  • Patent number: 4856967
Abstract: A fluid pump for delivering accurate volumes of high-pressure fluids is obtained using an intensifier to supply the majority of the motive power required to displace the fluids. The intensifier balances the forces between the output pressure of the displaced fluid (above a convention drive piston) with a large diameter booster piston that is driven pneumatically by low-pressure gas. A small horsepower motor provides needed power to overcome the friction of the high pressure gas pump, the differential pressure needed for the use of the pump, and to accurately control or trim the high-pressure output or rate to a precise value. A ball screw and spur gears are used to transmit the power. The pump is uniquely designed to reduce the stress from the motor to the components.

The mechanism or system includes a commonly shared clutch mechanism which is controlled such that the clutch is engaged and the pump operated until the operating level is reached at which time the clutch is disengaged so that the electric motor or internal combustion engine is under no load. The clutch mechanism utilizes a magnetic clutch and the clutch driven plate is non-rotatably connected to the pump input shaft while the clutch drive plate in non-rotatably connected to the motor or engine output shaft.

Abstract: A lubrication pump includes a piston and cylinder pump assembly comprising a piston arranged for reciprocation within and relative to a cylinder and having a charging stroke and a discharging stroke, a motor drivingly connected to the piston and cylinder assembly and a priming means including a priming handle coupled to the piston and cylinder assembly. In order to reduce the risk of damage to the pump or parts of a downstream lubricant distribution system through excessively forceful use of a priming handle and to provide a visual indication of the operation of the pump, a resilient member is provided in the coupling between the priming handle and the assembly such that movement of the priming handle to move the piston relative to the cylinder through the discharging stroke can take place without corresponding movement of the piston relative to the cylinder by deformation of the resilient member.

The predelivery chamber is connected with a metering agent tank through a suction conduit comprising a suction valve and a return conduit comprising a head valve. Furthermore, a diaphragm for predelivering into the predelivery chamber is provided. A metering section of the diaphragm cooperates with the metering chamber for performing the metering stroke and comprises a separate drive serving this purpose. • Patent number: 4749337
Abstract: A two-stage combination reciprocating and bladder pump wherein a hollow piston is disposed for reciprocating movement within a main pump body, and a bladder pump is housed in the piston. The piston pump and bladder pump are thus coaxially arranged, with the bladder pump mounted within the piston pump and operably cooperating therewith. A reciprocating tube is attached to the piston to permit operation thereof from above ground, and also serves as a conduit for alternately supplying pressurized air and atmospheric venting to the bladder pump. A rigid support pipe supports the main pump body, and has the reciprocating tube extending coaxially therethrough. A fluid discharge tube is in turn coaxially arranged within the reciprocating tube, thus defining a triaxial tubular arrangement. The fluid discharge tube provides communication between a fluid chamber of the piston pump and a fluid chamber of the bladder pump, and also functions as a conduit for discharging fluid to the exterior of the main pump body.

  • Patent number: 4697991
Abstract: As a rotary pump, which is typically provided on an automobile, is provided with two alternative sources of motive power, typically including a driving connection to the automotive engine, and driving connection to an electric motor. These driving connections may be unidirectionally clutched in such a manner as to cause the electric motor to drive the rotary pump only when the pump is to be driven but the automotive engine is not operating up to a predetermined speed. Typically, the rotary pump is of the eccentrically mounted rotor type having radially outwardly protruding spring-loaded pistons effectively in contact with a camming ring. A slider is shown provided between the housing and the ring for effectively varying the magnitude of eccentricity of the rotor and thus for effectively smoothly varying the capacity of the pump.
