  • Patent number: 4476835
Abstract: A process for delaying the axial movement of the pump piston of a fuel injection pump of an internal combustion engine and fuel injection pump for completing the process are proposed. The fuel injection pump consists of a pump piston placed in a movable and rotating mode within a cylindrical bore of a cylindrical sleeve. The pump piston is designed as a combination piston with a damping piston of larger diameter, which will upon completion of the fuel injection period of the turn with the damping shoulder, border the damping chamber within damping bore of the cylindrical sleeve. This further allows only throttled amounts of fuel to flow through the throttling pintle into the suction chamber; the throttling pintle runs in a longitudinal direction and is located on the damping piston.

  • Patent number: 4470763
Abstract: An electrical motor controls the movement of a slider threaded over a threaded shaft of the motor. A sensor detects the position of the slider along the threaded shaft to control the movement of the motor which is also controlled by the operational state of the engine. The slider controls the position of a control sleeve fitted slidably over a fuel distributing plunger relative to the plunger so that the sleeve opens and closes a spill port provided in the side surface of the plunger in order to control the amount of fuel supplied to the engine cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4412519
Abstract: The reciprocating plunger reciprocable in the pump cylinder of a distributor type diesel fuel injection pump is helically splined to an index ratchet gear that is also operatively associated with a pawl detent whereby the index ratchet gear is rotatable in only one direction. The plunger has a discharge slot on its outer peripheral surface which registers with one of the plural discharge ports opening from the pump cylinder and the plunger controls the covering and uncovering of a fuel inlet port to the pump cylinder. Upon a pump stroke of the plunger, the index ratchet gear is rotated so that the next adjacent tooth is brought into alignment with the pawl detent to then prevent its rotation in the opposite direction during the suction stroke of the plunger. With the index ratchet gear thus fixed, the plunger is thus rotated on the suction stroke so as to align the discharge slot with the next adjacent discharge port.

  • Patent number: 4231716
Abstract: A mechanical lubricating pump for supplying lubricating oil to rotary parts of machines and equipment. A rotatable distributor is inserted in the lengthwise direction of a pump body, and a suction port and a discharge port are provided in the diametrical direction of the body. A worm gear is disposed at one end of the distributor, while a plunger is inserted at the other end. Upon rotation of the distributor, the plunger executes relative movements in the axial direction, so that the pumping action is effected to suck and discharge the lubricating oil. The distributor has means by which the roles of the suction port and the discharge port at the time of the forward rotation of a driving source are maintained as they are when the driving source is reversely rotated.

  • Patent number: 4229148
Abstract: A single plunger distributor type fuel injection pump for multi-cylinder internal combustion engines having improved features for preventing cavitation in the fuel distribution passages upon fuel cutoff and for providing a uniform residual fuel pressure in the idle fuel distribution passages. The pump does not have the usual delivery valve for maintaining a high residual fuel pressure in the distribution passages. Instead, the passages upon injection termination drain into a spill chamber, the pressure within which builds up to resist fuel flow from the passages and minimize cavitation therewithin. The spill chamber pressure is relieved by a bleed passage opening into the low pressure fuel supply chamber. The pressure in the idle fuel distribution passages is maintained at a low predetermined level by connection of the passages to the fuel supply chamber between injection intervals.

  • Patent number: 4165207
Abstract: An actuation device for a tachometer adapted to transmit the revolutions of an engine crankshaft to the tachometer, wherein the oil pump of the engine is utilized as a speed reducing mechanism for transmitting the revolutions of the engine crankshaft to the tachometer after the engine speed is reduced. A cable connected at one end to the plunger of the oil pump whose speed is reduced by means of a gearing is connected at the other end to the tachometer. Thus, by utilizing the oil pump, it is possible to transmit the revolutions of the engine crankshaft to the tachometer without requiring a speed reducing mechanism provided exclusively for the tachometer.

  • Patent number: 3942914
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines includes a pump piston whose simultaneous reciprocation and rotation distributes pressurized fuel to the several injection nozzles of the engine. In order to shift the onset of fuel injection towards a later time during the delivery stroke of the piston, relief channels are disposed in the piston and in the surrounding cylindrical bushing. An annular slide, moving coaxially with respect to the piston, cooperates with the terminal apertures of one or more of these relief channels to relieve the fluid pressure in the working chamber of the pump, thereby interrupting fuel injection to the nozzles of the engine.
