Abstract: Elliptical or oval shaped gears of a positive displacement gear pump are disclosed. The gears have specially designed teeth at the ends of the gears' major and minor diameter axes. For example the teeth at the ends regions of the major diameter axes include radially extending wipers or vanes that extend and run against the circular gear case bore walls to seal liquid slip paths at radial running clearance areas between the tips of the gear teeth and the case bores. The pump may also have moveable wearplates on one or both sides of the gears that may be loaded laterally to seal liquid slip paths at lateral running clearance areas between the side faces of the gears and the pump faceplate and backplate.

  • Patent number: 7237432
Abstract: A rotor includes a plurality of vanes and is connected to a rotatable shaft of a motor arrangement. A casing includes a pump chamber and elongated holes. The pump chamber receives the rotor in such a manner that the rotor is eccentric to the pump chamber. Each elongated hole penetrates through the casing and has an elongated cross section. A major axis of the elongated cross section of each elongated hole extends in a direction of eccentricity of the rotor relative to the pump chamber. Each bolt is received through a corresponding elongated hole of the casing and is threadably engaged with a mount to connect the casing to the mount. The casing holds each bolt in a minor axial direction of the elongated cross section of the corresponding elongated hole to limit substantial movement of the male threaded screw member in the minor axial direction of the elongated hole.

  • Patent number: 5904474
Abstract: The pump has an integrated fluid pressure actuator which provides for the movement and the axial retention of a movable cover which closes one end of the seat of rotation of the lobes of the pump itself. When the pump is in operation, the movable cover closes the seat of the lobes whereas, when the pump is to be washed, the cover is moved away from the lobes to allow effective circulation of the cleaning liquid. The pump is further equipped with a circuit for washing the seals on the shafts, which is automatically active when the movable cover is in the retracted position of the washing phase and which, in this state, draws the cleaning liquid directly from the suction pipe of the pump, makes it circulate behind the seals on the shafts and discharges it into the delivery zone of the pump itself. The pump is also equipped with apertures which perform the function of indicators of malfunctioning of the pump itself in the event of the main seals on the shafts giving way.

  • Patent number: 5505592
Abstract: An annular piston abuts on an end face of a rotation plate on a side remote from a hollow cylinder via a thrust bearing, and delivery pressure is introduced to an end face of an annular piston on a side remote from the rotation plate via a high pressure-introducing passage. The delivery pressure acts via the thrust bearing on the rotation plate to urge the rotation plate toward the cylinder. As a result, the gap between the rotation plate and the cylinder is reduced, while a friction resistance offered to the rotation plate is reduced, thereby permitting the smooth rotation of the rotation plate.

  • Patent number: 5403173
Abstract: A housing for a pump having a cavity therein formed by first and second side walls connected to first and second semicircular end walls. A pair of intermeshing gear members are journaled in a floating bearing and a fixed bearing are located in the cavity. The intermeshing gear members respond to a clockwise rotary torque to pressurize fluid in transporting a fluid from an entrance chamber to a discharge chamber. The fluid in the discharge chamber acts on and urges the floating bearing and fixed bearing into engagement with portions of the first and second semicircular end walls and first side wall to seal the entrance chamber from the discharge chamber. The intermeshing gear members respond to a counterclockwise torque by transporting fluid from the discharge chamber to the entrance chamber to develop an internal fluid pressure. The internal fluid pressure acts on and urges the floating and fixed bearings toward the first and second semicircular end walls and second side wall.

  • Patent number: 5161961
Abstract: By using multiple external gears and internal gears, which are engaged with each other, and multiple radial sealing elements and axial sealing elements, a pump or motor, which includes multiple equivalent pumps or motors, is made. Each gear included in thus made gear pump or motor is radially hydraulically counterbalanced, even completely hydro-mechanically counterbalanced, loads on bearings being able to become zero. Axial gaps and radial gaps both have been compensated. The pump or motor can stagelessly vary its output. Accordingly, a gear pump or motor with constant output or stagelessly variable output, as well as a relevant stageless hydraulic speed variator, can be made, which will have lower production cost, higher transmission efficiency and higher power density.

  • Patent number: 4940394
Abstract: A rotary lobed rotor pump has externally adjustable wearplates in the rotor casing juxtaposed to the parallel ends of rotating lobed rotors. Resilient members such as Belleville springs are adjusted by compression by means external of the rotor casing so that the springs move the wearplate(s) into a design clearance with the parallel rotor ends. No pump disassembly is required to accurately set the clearance. An internal pressure surge by-pass is provided which permits outward movement of either or both wearplates resulting in an increased gap with the rotor ends causing a decrease in the rate of rise in fluid pressure in the internal rotor casing cavities in effect causing rotor slippage.
