Abstract: A family of sliding vane rotary power devices provides an internal combustion engine, a pump, a compressor, a fluid-driven motor, an expander device, a fluid-driven pump, a compressor or a throttling device. All of these devices have a rotor assembly with a number of vanes equally spaced about the rotor dividing the rotor chamber into discrete cavities. As the rotor turns, the vanes follow the wall contour of the rotor chamber so that the cavities rotate with the rotor and expand and contract as the rotor turns. Various combinations of smooth wall contours and rotational arrangements are provided in different devices in order to cause an appropriate number of expansions and contractions of a cavity during the course of a rotation. Various devices in the family of devices differ both in the shape of the rotor chamber and in the configuration of an internal stator member about which the rotor assembly turns.

  • Patent number: 5580227
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotary piston pump for conveying and/or metering liquid or pourable media. It consists of a pump casing (2) with a cylinder chamber (4) having a cylindrical inner periphery (6) into which open at least one inlet (8) and at least out outlet (10), and a rotary piston (20) rotating inside the cylinder chamber (4) which, together with at least one region of its outer peripheral surface (22) forms a seal with the inner peripheral surface (6) of the cylinder chamber (4) and is separated in regions from the inner peripheral surface (6) by a radial stroke distance. When the rotary piston rotates (arrow 70), an expanding working chamber (24) is formed in the region of the inlet (8) to draw the medium in and, on further rotation, contracts again in the region of the outlet to force the medium out.

Abstract: A sealed compressor for use in an air conditioner or a refrigerator. The sealed compressor has an electrically driving portion which includes a rotor having a dust reservoir for collecting and storing dust or the like, which reservoir is formed in the central part of the rotor. Further, the dust reservoir is connected to a through hole, in which lubricating oil flows, of a driving shaft through a horizontal hole. Thus, dust contained in lubricating oil are moved outward by centrifugal force. Further, when dust enter the dust reservoir, such dusts are stored therein. Furthermore, the stored dust cannot get out of the dust reservoir. As the result, dust contained in the lubricating oil can be prevented from getting into the sliding portion. Moreover, the sliding portion can be prevented from being damaged by dust contained in the lubricating oil. Consequently, a sealed compressor with high reliability can be provided.
