Hinged Barrel Patents (Class 42/63)
  • Patent number: 6637140
Abstract: A firearm and an assembly for use in the same are disclosed. The assembly comprises a cylinder having a longitudinal axis. The cylinder defines a plurality of bullet wells and is structured to rotate around the longitudinal axis in response to a shot. The assembly also includes an impact base positioned behind the cylinder to support bullets within the bullet wells. The impact base is rotatable about the longitudinal axis with the cylinder in response to the shot.

  • Patent number: 5704150
Abstract: A gun includes a pivoting barrel assembly, a trigger/hammer double action firing mechanism, and a barrel/inline valve mechanism for firing projectiles. The pivoting barrel assembly includes a projectile-holding rotatable cylinder and an indexing mechanism for rotating the cylinder when the trigger is pulled. A hammer is cocked by a hammer link which is operatively connected to the trigger, and a cam on the hammer lifts the hammer link out of engagement with the hammer when the hammer reaches its cocked position. The valve mechanism includes a valve stem which is slidably mounted in a valve body. A pin portion on the valve stem extends through a valve seal and a valve seal retainer, and the valve seal retainer is retained in the valve body by retainer pins which extend through the body into a groove in the valve seal retainer. A detent housing is connected to the valve body, and a detent is slidably mounted with the detent housing. The detent is engageable with projectile chambers in the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5649383
Abstract: A barrel retaining device for an automatic pistol has a locking element that locks the pistol barrel and breech both of which are guided on the stock of the weapon. In order to remove the breech with the barrel from the stock in order to disassemble the pistol, the locking element has an actuating element on both sides of the stock which, when depressed, unlocks a lock between the barrel and the stock. At the same time, depressing of the actuation element releases the trigger finger into a forward position to impart a forward movement to a spring loaded trigger arm which is also cammed downwardly to disengage the trigger arm and the driver on the firing pin in the breech. The connections between the breech and the stock are thus released by a single unlocking movement when disassembling a pistol.

  • Patent number: 4918850
Abstract: A gas seal revolver which includes a barrel having a longitudinal bore therethrough, a rotatably mounted cylinder positioned adjacent to the barrel and having a plurality of chambers therein, and a sealing and aligning structure oriented between the barrel and the cylinder to thereby form a leak resistant gas seal when the barrel is moved against the end face of the cylinder. The barrel and cylinder assembly are movable mounted to the frame such that the revolver may be tipped open for easy loading and cleaning of the operative parts contained therein. The revolver also includes an indexing mechanism which cooperates with notches along the outer periphery of the cylinder in order to incrementally move the cylinder so that the chambers are moved into and out of preliminary alignment with the barrel bore. The barrel is also prevented from being opened during any phase of trigger motion thereby ensuring that the operator will not open the barrel during the firing cycle.

  • Patent number: 4156981
Abstract: The invention disclosed is a man-portable multi-shot weapon capable of firing relatively large caliber projectiles e.g. 38-40mm at a rapid rate and to the conversion of a similar existing single-shot weapon to multi-shot capability. The multi-shot weapon comprises a barrel, a breech frame on which the barrel is mounted, said breech frame defining a lateral opening through opposite sides of the frame for receiving a magazine having a plurality of chambers to accomodate relatively large caliber projectiles, said magazine being rotatably mounted in said opening in such a manner that the chambers may be successively brought into a firing position in alignment with the barrel, and firing means for firing a projectile when in the firing position.
