  • Patent number: 11821705
Abstract: A small lightweight weapon system for integration into an unmanned aerial vehicle comprises a weapon operating group which utilizes blowback operation to fire a full-powered centerfire rifle ammunition. An operating rod of the weapon operating group has an axis of translation offset from the longitudinal axis of the barrel thereby creating a moment couple on the system. A motor assembly controls the operation of the weapon operating group. Through a gear train, actuation of the motor assembly lifts a sear against a return torsion spring, which holds the operating group back when not firing. The gear train comprises a one way flywheel disconnect to increase the torque of the direct current motor and overcome the force of the torsion spring. Intelligent motor commutation and burst control are achieved through an encoder and software package.

  • Patent number: 11340035
Abstract: A trigger assembly apparatus includes spherical portion(s) and spherical bearing(s), rounded sear, stabilizing catch, and complimentary shield. In an exemplary embodiment, the spherical portion(s) and spherical bearing(s) respond to non-linear movement. Further, the interaction of the spherical portion(s) and spherical bearing(s) results in the mobility of the trigger in relation to the 6 degrees of freedom thereby resulting in the firearm being generally unaffected by side to side movement of the trigger during activation. The trigger assembly may also include but is not limited to a rounded sear, stabilizing catch, and complimentary shield. The rounded portion of the sear engages the hammer stop notch at a single point further resulting in the firearm being generally unaffected by side to side movement of the trigger. Additionally the stabilizing catch and shield helps facilitate the proper reset of the trigger assembly.

  • Patent number: 10415916
Abstract: A modified trigger assembly for a handgun has a shortened trigger bar with an angled end that engages a connector to form a gap that reduces potential energy between the trigger bar and the connector, such that the connector is inhibited from disengaging from the trigger bar when the trigger is pulled or released. A gap forms between an angled end of the trigger bar and a first end of the connector. The gap and the shortened length of the trigger bar reduce potential energy forces that could disengage the connector from the trigger bar. By remaining engaged with the trigger bar, the connector is prevented from resetting to a natural position; and consequently, the handgun can discharge from both a trigger pull position and a trigger release position. Consequently, a repeated shot occurs when releasing the trigger after a natural triggering movement of pulling a trigger.

  • Patent number: 8572879
Abstract: A firearm hammer that has its cocking spur attached in a hinged manner that is constantly biased to the closed position. Upon sufficiently applied force, the cocking spur can pivot about the hinge from the closed position to a plurality of open positions, and then due to the constant bias, the cocking spur automatically and rapidly returns to the closed position. In one embodiment, a spring at the hinge causes the constant bias of the cocking spur to the closed position. In the closed position, the cocking spur rests upon the main body of the hammer and is thereby supported to allow the hammer to be cocked. This invention reduces the probability of snagging the hammer on clothing as the firearm is drawn for use. This invention also allows instinctive use of the cocking spur since it is automatically and rapidly returned to the closed position after deviations thereof.

  • Patent number: 8312658
Abstract: A firearm firing system substantially reduces the force necessary to fire the weapon yet enhances its ability to remain safe when a firing command is not issued. The sear and hammer interact at two distinct locations so as to reduce the force necessary for the sear to be removed from the sear ledge of the hammer resulting firing of the weapon. By redistributing forces to a secondary point on the hammer during firing the primary sear/hammer interaction can be maintained during non-firing modes to safe the weapon. Additionally a cavity is presented at the sear/sear ledge interaction such that residue and foreign material are removed so not to interfere with the firing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8220192
Abstract: Firing assemblies for use with firearms are described. A firing assembly for use with a firearm includes a hammer pivotably coupled to a hammer shaft. The hammer includes a hammer stop notch that at least partially engages a portion of a lever of a trigger assembly when the hammer is in a cocked position and a control curve section that engages a surface of the lever to retain the lever in an unlocked position as the hammer moves between the cocked position and a firing position. Additionally, the firing assembly includes a control element pivotably coupled to the hammer shaft and adjacent the hammer, wherein the control element includes a first control curve portion that at least partially adjoins the control curve section and wherein the hammer interacts with the control element to change a control curve region as the hammer moves between cocked position and the firing position.

  • Patent number: 8132350
Abstract: A hammer spring assembly comprises a spring and a member operatively coupling the spring and a hammer of a firearm when the hammer spring assembly is connected to a firearm. The hammer is biased by the spring to rotate forward toward a cartridge or firing pin. The spring exerts a bias force on the member in the forward direction, which urges the member against a curved rearward surface of the hammer at a hammer contact point. As the hammer rotates rearward, the hammer contact point moves along the rearward hammer surface so as to cause a desired variation of an effective lever arm about the hammer pivot point of the bias force exerted on the hammer. Methods comprise connecting the hammer spring assembly to a firearm, or providing the hammer spring assembly and instructing a user to connect it to a firearm.
