Patent number: 6237272Abstract: A breech Block safety device for preventing weapons from being accidentlly loaded while at home or on display in businesses and military applications. The breech Block device utilizes two O-rings and the two grooved angles in which the O-rings are seated, that serves to secure and hold the safety breech block in location. The use of the O-rings and grooves ensures a firm hold in the chamber, plus the angles of the seat walls cause a easy insertion and a restricted extraction of the plug. The composition of the breech block makes it inexpensive for mass production and manufacturing techniques. The two O-rings fit within the two grooves that is slightly wider than the thickness of the O-ring which causes the a easy insertion and a secure hold in the chamber and a restricted extraction with no shearing of the O-rings.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1996Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Inventor: Randy Lee Scott

Patent number: 6161461Abstract: A training device for a combat vehicle with a heavy weapon, especially an armored howitzer. A shorter practice barrel replaces the weapon's regular barrel, but has the same sort of attachments at its inner end as the regular barrel has for fastening it to accommodations in the vehicle. A magazine at the outer end of the practice barrel accommodates rammed practice shells, which are decelerated and forwarded to magazine shafts offside the axis of the barrel. Practice shells of essentially the same weight and dimensions as regular shells and an impact absorber at the front for accepting the impact of a brake, are accommodated in the magazine. An accessory device for removing the practice shells from the magazine comprises a framework that travels on rollers and is provided with a platform for operating personnel and with a hydraulic lift that accepts used practice shells from the magazine and lowers them to the ground.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1999Date of Patent: December 19, 2000Assignee: Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6145440Abstract: The invention relates to a training weapon system for a portable recoilless anti-armor weapon of the type which comprises a sub-caliber insert barrel (1) arranged in the bore of the launching barrel of the full-caliber weapon. In order to improve the accuracy of the system and make it more safe as well as less expensive when compared to previous systems of this type, the sub-caliber insert barrel (1) has a rifled bore to make the training projectile spin stabilized. The forward aligning member (5) for centering the insert barrel (1) is engaging the ridges of the rifles in the rifled portion of the barrel in the recoilless full caliber weapon. By such an arrangement it can be avoided that length tolerances give rise to undesired radical deviations which might result in a mis-alignment of the insert barrel (1) within the gun bore. This could happen with the forward aligning member engaging the conical, smooth-bored firing chamber in the barrel.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1999Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Simbal ABInventor: Arne Franzen

Patent number: 6134823Abstract: An interbar assembly (34) for reversibly attaching a supplemental device, e.g., grenade launcher (32), to a host weapon, e.g., rifle (10). A preferred interbar assembly (34) attaches at its forward end to the rifle barrel (16), and at its rearward end to a "brace" (37) located in the breech area of the rifle (10). In a preferred embodiment, such connection can be made without the need for special tools after simply removing the host weapon lower hand guard (26b), which is readily removable, but without any other alterations.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1998Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: R/M Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Todd Griffin

Patent number: 6128847Abstract: A weapon discharge safety mechanism is designed in one multiple section piece for use with handguns and in two separate sections for use with rifles. The discharge safety mechanism includes a trigger guard housing with a bottom, first and second sides and an open top, which fits over and covers the trigger guard and trigger area of a firearm such as a pistol or a rifle. The trigger guard housing portion is releasably secured by a retention pin just behind the front of the trigger guard to hold the trigger guard housing portion in place covering the trigger guard. For handguns, an enclosed bullet trap housing is attached to the trigger guard housing portion. For rifles, this housing is separate. The bullet trap housing has a first closed end and a second open end, which fits over the end of a barrel of the gun and extends over the barrel a short distance.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventor: F.
