Abstract: A centrifugal separator has a rotary drum that is adapted to receive a product that can be separated into a light phase, a heavy phase, and solid sediments, a first outlet for the light phase, a closing device that opens and closes a second outlet for the heavy phase. The closing device has an electromagnetic actuator having a ferromagnetic element whereon a closing plug is mounted. The electromagnetic actuator has an electromagnetic coil that creates a magnetic field so as to attract the ferromagnetic element. A spring is connected to the closing plug so as to urge the closing plug to a closed position. The closing plug, the ferromagnetic element and the spring are connected to the rotary drum.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for manually metering liquids, for example a pipette or a metering button. The device comprises a joint forming a seal between a hollow cylinder and a piston housed inside the cylinder, the piston being moved vertically so as to suck in or expel the liquid. During the metering operation, the joint remains fixed with respect to the movement of the piston and comprises parts formed by portions having dedicated geometric and mechanical characteristics which make it possible to locally optimize the functions of sliding, sealing and fastening in the cylinder.
Abstract: The present invention provides devices, in particular lateral flow devices, for detecting a target analyte on a surface, in which the elements of collection and detection are integrated. The present invention also provides methods of use thereof.

Abstract: A sample preparation system provides an automated process that dispenses appropriate amounts of solid material into wells of a microtiter plate for mixing into a suspension. The system utilizes an array of hollow tubes that are lowered into a particle reservoir such that particle material is forced up into the tubes. During loading, solid plungers in the tubes are positioned a known distance from the open end of the tubes. When the particle material is to be dispensed, the plungers are lowered to push the particle material out of the tubes and into receiving wells of the microtiter plate. The plunger stroke and internal diameter of the tubes defines the dispensed volume of particle material.
