Abstract: Disclosed are a multipurpose, high-functional, alkaline solution composition, preparation therefor and use thereof as a nonspecific immunostimulator. The composition comprises 1-25 parts by weight of borax (Na2B4O7.10H2O), 10−5-10−4 parts by weight of sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3.5H2O), 30-150 parts by weight of potassium carbonate, 30-200 parts by weight of refined sugar (C12H22O11), and 100-200 parts by weight of water, based on 100 parts by weight of sodium metasilicate (Na2SiO3.5H2O). In addition to bringing about an improvement in disease resistance, weight gain rate, crop yield, crop quality, harvest time, the composition shows nonspecific immunostimulating activities, including antibody production and immune enhancement, by activating immune cells, thereby maximizing vaccination effects on malignant viral diseases.
Abstract: The present invention discloses compositions derived from an isolated Bacillus species, spores, or an extracellular product of Bacillus coagulans comprising a supernatant or filtrate of a culture of said Bacillus coagulans strain, suitable for topical application to the skin or mucosal membranes of a mammal, which are utilized to inhibit the growth of bacterium, yeast, fungi, virus, and combinations thereof. The present invention also discloses methods of treatment and therapeutic systems for inhibiting the growth of bacterium, yeast, fungi, virus, and combinations thereof, by topical application of therapeutic compositions which are comprised, in part, of isolated Bacillus species, spores, or an extracellular product of Bacillus coagulans comprising a supernatant or filtrate of a culture of said Bacillus coagulans strain.
Abstract: This invention provides a novel endophytic fungus, Muscodor, that produces a mixture of volatile antibiotics with activity on specific plant pathogens, bacteria, nematodes and insects. Also provided is a method for treating or protecting plants, soil and seeds from microbial infections comprising applying an effective amount of a volatile antibiotic producing Muscodor sp. The invention also relates to fungicidal, bactericidal, insecticidal and nematicidal compositions comprising this novel Muscodor strain and the antibiotics and metabolites produced by this strain either alone, or in combination with other chemical and biological pesticides. Also provided is a method for identifying and isolating related gas producing fungi.

Abstract: An animal-derived lipid is disclosed that is useful as a carrying agent for anti-microbial formulations. Pharmaceutical and other preparations including Emu Oil are also described as profoundly useful components in anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral treatments. Abstract: A pesticide composition that includes a metabolite from a fungus selected from homeocarpic basidiomycetes and homeocarpic ascomycetes is produced. Abstract: The antioxidation food product of the present invention is a fermented product produced by adding a manganese-containing natural material such as tea and fermenting with bacteria having a catalase activity (e.g. Lactobacillus plantarum). Abstract: The present invention relates a process for culturing isolates of Antrodia camphorata to provide a product useful in medical and nourishment fields. The present invention also relates to a novel isolate of Antrodia camphorata capable of growing in a suitable artificial medium, while exhibiting desired pharmacological activities, in particular anti-tumor activity. The utilization of potato dextrose broth and the synthetic medium containing fructose as major carbon source leads to a significant increase in the pharmacological activity of the cultures of A. camphorate.

This composition has an activity for regenerating the skin, in particular anti-wrinkle properties, for erasing old scars, for repairing burnt tissues, for promoting skin healing, for eliminating pigmentary spots and also for promoting growth or fresh growth of superficial body growth including nails, hair or hairs.
Abstract: The invention discloses a two-step process for recovery of thuringiensin, comprising adsorbing the thuringiensin from fermentation broth by calcium silicate, and dissociating the thuringiensin by dibasic sodium phosphate. The resulting thuringiensin can be further purified by using semi-preparative HPLC and electrodialysis to remove the excess salts from the recovered thuringiensin solution.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for preparation of biologically active substances and has the following characteristic features: (a) nacre is reduced to a powder whose grain size is less than approximately 200 &mgr;m; (b) it is placed in close contact with an aqueous solvent, (c) at the end of the contact period, the insoluble fraction is separated out to give the aqueous fraction; (d) the solvent of the aqueous fraction is concentrated to separate out the soluble or water-transportable fraction of the nacre, which is made up of biologically active substances with essentially no mineral components. The invention likewise relates to the products obtained by this method, their use for medicinal purposes and the compositions containing them.

Abstract: A method is presented for treating hyperkeratotic diseases such as psoriasis which comprises applying a lysate of Halobacterium halobium to the effected skin area and irradiating with light. The preferred treatment involves multiple applications of a 2% composition of the lysate and irradiation for a period of twenty to sixty minutes with a 300 watt lamp.
