Patent number: 6800597Abstract: This invention relates to a bath composition based on herbs and a foaming agent, in particular a composition including a reagent consisting of sodium bicarbonate and a weak acid such as citric acid which develops carbon dioxide when it comes into contact with water, combined with a surfactant such as lauryl sulphate, and mixed with a quantity of medicinal herbs. When this composition is immersed in the bathwater, the reagent develops a considerable amount of carbon dioxide which, thanks to the surfactant also present in the composition, gives rise to the formation of foam. At the same time, an infusion is obtained due to the presence of medicinal herbs, with the result that the active constituents of the herbs which are dispersed in the water are readily absorbed by the skin through the pores. The invention also relates to packaging in which a quantity of reagent and medicinal herbs is introduced into a bag made, for example, of non-woven fabric.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2002Date of Patent: October 5, 2004Assignee: Zeca S.r.l.Inventor: Antonio Campagnoli

Patent number: 6770287Abstract: The present invention provides, inter alia, durable and renewable biocidal wooden materials for safe food contact items, such as cutting boards and containers, to be used in home kitchens and the food processing industries. The biocidal food contact surfaces of the present invention reduce and eliminate cross-contamination of diseases and make the surfaces or wood cutting boards safer to use. The biocidal materials inactivate any microorganisms that are deposited and prevent the materials from building up biofilms.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2000Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Gang Sun, Xiangjing Xu, Dean Cliver

Patent number: 6767553Abstract: A fibrous material, which can be an absorbent material, includes a plurality of natural fibers treated with a carboxylic acid-based odor control agent, which are able to withstand insults with an aqueous liquid without dissolving the odor control agent. The acid-based odor control agent is bound to the natural fibers by an organosilicone polymer binder. The binder is water-insoluble, and can form a highly gas permeable coating. The binder is also highly porous, so as to expose the odor control agent to ammonia and other odoriferous gases which it is intended to control.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2001Date of Patent: July 27, 2004Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Tong Sun, Sheng-Hsin Hu, Ronald L. Patent number: RE38958Abstract: The subject invention concerns novel biopesticides and their use to control cockroaches, carpenter ants, and pharaoh ants. Specifically, highly virulent isolates of Beauveria bassiana in an agricultural composition, can be used to effectively control these pests. Exemplified are Beauveria bassiana No. 447, ATCC 20872, and Beauveria bassiana Sp111, ATCC 74038. Also described are unique formulations which are highly effective for delivering biocontrol agents to target pests. By using these novel compositions, target pests can be controlled without the environmental and public safety hazards presented by chemical control agents.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2003Date of Patent: January 31, 2006Assignee: University of Florida Research Foundation, Inc.Inventors: Jerry L.
