Publication number: 20090016979Abstract: Basic aluminum chloride (BAC) and aluminum zirconium antiperspirant active of enhanced efficacy are proposed. The acid activated aluminum-zirconium composition having low contents of both glycine and zirconium with Band III/II ration of less than 0.5 is found to provide higher efficacy than the corresponding heat activated aluminum zirconium antiperspirant salt with high HPLC Band III/II ratio and having high contents of both glycine and zirconium at similar M/Cl ratio. According to present invention, the interactions between amino acid such as glycine and aluminum species in BAC and aluminum-zirconium solutions greatly reduce the effective amount of aluminum monomer species, which attributed to the reduced efficacy and stability of the corresponding solutions. The aluminum and aluminum-zirconium antiperspirant salt compositions of enhanced efficacy have low molar ratio of amino acid/or buffer to metal(s) of 0.2 and preferably less than 0.15, with metal(s) to chloride molar ratio of at least 1.1.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2007Publication date: January 15, 2009Inventors: Zijun Li, Mark Rerek

Publication number: 20080267895Abstract: An anhydrous antiperspirant composition comprising from 2 to 25% by weight of solubilised aluminium-containing antiperspirant active; from 20 to 50% by weight of ethanol and from 20 to 55% by weight of one or more solubiliser oils selected from the group consisting of: (i) a branched-chain fatty alcohol having from 16 to 24 carbon atoms; (ii) a benzoate ester of a short chain (C2-C6) alcohol substituted with a phenyl, phenoxy or benzoyloxy group; (iii) a benzoate ester of a straight-chain alcohol of from 6 to 8 carbon atoms; and (iv) a propoxylated linear fatty alcohol having a degree of propoxylation of from 2 to 4 and a fatty alcohol chain length of from 10 to 18 carbon atoms; wherein the ratio of antiperspirant active to ethanol and of antiperspirant active to the solubiliser oil is from 1:10 to 1:1 by weight and the ratio of ethanol to oil is from 1:2 to 2:1 by weight.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2006Publication date: October 30, 2008Inventors: Kevin Ronald Franklin, Joyce Kench, Joanne Elizabeth Stockton

Publication number: 20080247979Abstract: The invention describes the use of a hydrophobic zeolite, that contains an active component, especially a disinfection element, as ethanol, iodine, phenol, cresol or hydrogen peroxide, in a composition for non-medical treatment of the skin, for example as a deodorant. The invention also describes the use of a hydrophobic zeolite, that contains an active component, especially a disinfection element, as ethanol, iodine, phenol, cresol or hydrogen peroxide, for manufacturing of a pharmaceutical preparation for treatment of skin related conditions and diseases, as skin infections. The hydrophobic zeolite is especially selected from that group that comprises silicalite, or hydrophobic ZMS-5, hydrophobic mordenite and hydrophobic zeolite Y.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2006Publication date: October 9, 2008Inventors: Hakan Benjaminson, Stan Anderson
