  • Patent number: 8025892
Abstract: Gel particles or beads can be prepared by forming a hot aqueous solution of a gelling agent, and discharging the hot gelling agent solution through a discharge orifice into a cold moving stream of hydrophobic liquid so that the gelling agent solution cools rapidly and good quality gel particles coalesce in the cold hydrophobic liquid stream. The cold hydrophobic liquid stream can be contained in a conduit so that the cold hydrophobic liquid stream moves past the discharge orifice and exerts a force on hot solution in the discharge orifice, the force acting to withdraw the hot solution from the discharge orifice. Optionally, the gel particles can be crushable gel beads 10 formed of an agar complex providing cosmetic, pharmaceutical, etc. delivery vehicles for topical delivery of biologically or cosmetically active agents. The hair cosmetic composition of the present invention can for example give strength/body, manageability, and set retention property to the hair which is apt to be dry and moistureless owing to the damage by coloring, permanent waving, or repetition of excessive blow drying.

Abstract: The inventors of the present invention have surprisingly found out that mixing an additional component prior to application which is preferably an emulsion to already existing two or more phase composition comprising an oil phase and a water phase wherein two or more phases are optically separated at zero shear rate and becomes homogeneous upon shaking and returns again to optically separated two or more phases upon release of agitation and mixes to a homogeneous composition when all phases are mixed improves hair shine, elasticity, manageability and combability and adds volume and body when especially a compound described below is included into the composition. It should be noted that after mixing all phase the composition is used immediately or in a short period of time so that the formed composition by mixing all phases does not have to have long term stability. It is enough when it is homogeneous during application onto hair.
