Abstract: The present invention concerns a composition for the permanent shaping of human hair used both for the permanent waving of human hair with an excellent waving effect as well as for the straightening of either naturally or chemically curled hair comprising a diamide compound. Accordingly, the present invention is on a composition for permanent shaping hair based on at least one reducing agent and a compound comprising at least two amide (diamide) groups in its molecule and at least one cationic polymer. Preferred diamide compounds are according to the general structure wherein R1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain with 1 to 12 C atoms which may be substituted with hydroxy and/or alkoxy groups, R2 is linear or branched alkyl chain with 1 to 5 C atoms, and R3 linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain with 1 to 22 C atoms.

  • Patent number: 7955593
Abstract: A method and composition treatment is used to reduce post permanent odor in permed or waved hair. The malodor in permed hair is reduced by applying a leave-in aqueous treatment of pH 2.5-4.5 containing, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, polyquaternium-7, dimethicone and fragrance containing at least four components with water/octanol partition coefficient Log Kow or log P of 3-4.5. The post permanent odor in hair is reduced by (1) minimizing any reactions of hair with residual chemical compounds in hair after the perming process or after the oxidation step and (2) lessen or suppress any odoriferous compounds by decreasing their vapor pressure and (3) depositing in hair long lasting fragrance components to mask or change the malodor to be more pleasant.

Abstract: Systems and related methods for straightening or relaxing human hair. The components of the systems and methods include a formulated relaxer cream or relaxer precursor cream that contains a level of alkali metal hydroxide or alkali earth metal hydroxide and an additional diluent cream of similar viscosity and consistency, yet lacking the alkali ingredient, that serves to dilute the strength of the hair-straightening admixture without any change in viscosity that may render the mixture useless or even harmful. A no-lye system will also include an activator solution, such as guanidine carbonate, to react with the alkali earth metal hydroxide. The components of the systems are mixed prior to application to the user's hair. The systems and methods provide a gentler and safer approach to straightening hair for users whose hair possesses low levels of curl or finer hair texture, for users seeking only a lesser degree of hair straightening.
