Abstract: Disclosed are methods of solubilizing various coolants, in particular cyclohexane-based carboxamide derivatives to facilitate formulating these coolants into a wide variety of consumer products, including those for oral cavity, throat, skin and hair care applications. Suitable solvents are those that provide at least 5% concentrated solutions of these coolants. Particularly preferred solvents are those used in the perfume and flavor industries and are GRAS materials that do not contribute formulation difficulties or negative aesthetics.

The malodor in permed hair is reduced by applying a leave-in aqueous treatment of pH 2.5-4.5 containing, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, polyquaternium-7, dimethicone and fragrance containing at least four components with water/octanol partition coefficient Log Kow or log P of 3-4.5. The post permanent odor in hair is reduced by (1) minimizing any reactions of hair with residual chemical compounds in hair after the perming process or after the oxidation step and (2) lessen or suppress any odoriferous compounds by decreasing their vapor pressure and (3) depositing in hair long lasting fragrance components to mask or change the malodor to be more pleasant.

Abstract: Systems and related methods for straightening or relaxing human hair. The components of the systems and methods include a formulated relaxer cream or relaxer precursor cream that contains a level of alkali metal hydroxide or alkali earth metal hydroxide and an additional diluent cream of similar viscosity and consistency, yet lacking the alkali ingredient, that serves to dilute the strength of the hair-straightening admixture without any change in viscosity that may render the mixture useless or even harmful.
