Abstract: A method for treating a patient suffering from kidney and/or urinary system stones including preparing an infusion from a plant, such as, large or medium sized fully-grown Piper hispidum leaves, and ingesting a specified amount of the infusion over a predetermined period of time, has proven effective in quickly and painlessly dissolving kidney and/or urinary system stones in the patient. This is a major breakthrough in the field of medical healthcare, eliminating the need for expensive and painful surgery, or other invasive medical procedures, such as, laser treatment(s) or shock wave lithotripsy, which are typically followed by a relatively long recuperative period. By comparison, treatment with an infusion is quick, generally about two to three days, without sophisticated and expensive medical equipment, and without any recuperative period.

By controlling the extraction parameters and stopping the extraction before all of the kavalactones have been extracted or allowing the extracted kavalactones to be preferentially precipitated in one or more collection environments, a processed kava product can be produced that has a kavalactone distribution profile that can differ substantially from that of the source material. As a result, roots from a less desirable kava cultivar can be used to produce a processed kava product which has a kavalactone distribution profile that is similar to that of a highly desired cultivar. Abstract: A method of producing a processed kava product involves using an extraction solvent, such as liquid CO2, to preferentially extract different kavalactones from the source material at different rates. The kava paste can be further processed to produce a dry flowable powder suitable for use in, e.g., a tableting formula. A rapid dissolve tablet formulation for use in the delivery of kavalactones and other botanicals is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an installation for setting in adsorbed state, on a porous support, compounds contained in a product comprising a first step which consists in extracting the compounds by contacting the product with at least a solvent at supercritical pressure to obtain a mixture of extracts and solvent. The method is characterized in that it comprises a second step which consists in eliminating the water contained in the mixture of extracts and solvent, adjusting the temperature and pressure conditions so as to obtain, a first phase consisting of solvent in gaseous state and a second phase consisting of a mixture of liquids formed of solvent and extracts of the products; causing said two phases to trickle through a porous support adapted to adsorb the extracts; vaporizing the solvent contained in the second phase.
