  • Patent number: 7585165
Abstract: A surface treatment layer 11 is formed on a surface 10 of a through-hole 1 so that the surface 10 has an angle X of contact with solution L which is smaller than an angle Y of contact of a die 2 per se with the solution L. When the solution L is applied, the wetting action of the solution L relative to the through-hole 1 is improved so that the solution L can be extended over the surface treatment layer 11, eventually over the entire surface of the through-hole 1. Consequently, the entire surface thereof can be formed with a crystallized layer by performing water evaporation. As a result, molding at higher temperature can be realized, and high-density compacts can be stably obtained. Further, the solution L in which the lubricant is dissolved in a solvent into a homogeneous phase, is applied to a molding portion 1A, and then evaporated to thereby form crystals thereon, thus forming the crystallized layer.

  • Patent number: 4340343
Abstract: A food preparation machine primarily designed for the production of the Italian potato based delicacy gnocchi and characterized by an inclined flouring ramp, a motor driven roller located under the lower end of the ramp, a deflection plate located proximate the roller, and a dough extruder for depositing dough plugs near the top of the ramp so that they roll and slide down the ramp into abutment with the deflection plate and the roller. As the roller is rotated the dough plugs are squeezed through a gap between the roller and the lower edge of the deflection plate to take on the characteristic form of gnocchi. A flouring mechanism is provided to flour the parts of the machine that come into contact with the dough, including the ramp and a rotating knife blade which cuts the extruded dough into the plugs. The roller is threaded from both ends with opposing threads so that the plugs are urged towards the center of the roller as it is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4278625
Abstract: A field transplant system including a machine for sequentially forming groups of polymerized soil plugs having seed receiving recesses in one end thereof and supported on a carrier, and in certain cases interconnected by strips, the carrier being used to transport the soil plugs through a seeding station and then to a germination station and then to a growing station either in the flat or on a plant turning machine in a greenhouse to grow the germinated seeds to transplant size, and then using the carrier to transport the soil plugs with the transplants growing therein to the field for transplanting by an automatic transplanter; several forms of soil plugs are disclosed, and several methods for supplying seeds to the soil plugs are disclosed, as well as an improved method of mounting a mat of soil plugs on the cylinder of a plant turning machine.

  • Patent number: 4278411
Abstract: A completely self-contained apparatus and associated technique for the manufacture of large fiberglass structures. In a preferred embodiment, the system is designed to manufacture large fiberglass storage tanks for liquids, and is self-contained from the point of view that the machine is capable of performing all manufacturing steps without any auxiliary equipment and may be set up virtually anywhere that can provide a source of electricity and air. The main components of the machine include an operator's carriage which is cantilevered from a rear frame so as to enable same to be inserted into the open end of a large, substantially cylindrical revolving mold having a closed, substantially hemispherical end portion. The carriage includes an overhead canopy for the protection of the operator, as well as fresh air intake and exhaust fans to provide adequate ventilation for the operator.

  • Patent number: 4262632
Abstract: An electronic identification system for livestock, particularly adapted to tagging ruminating animals, such as cattle and sheep, comprising a transmitter capsule which is implantable in the animal and precoded to broadcast a series of binary coded electric pulses peculiar to the animal. An associated interrogator-receiver device may be provided for inducing power into the capsule and for detecting the coded transmissions from the capsule to identify the animal. The receiver output may be utilized for a visual display or suitably interfaced with a computer while in the case of ruminants the capsule may be designed by adjusting its specific gravity to reside permanently in the animal's second stomach or reticulum and be reusable after slaughter.

  • Patent number: 4212609
Abstract: A method and machine for producing a configurated and specified weight food product in die cavities of a rotary die roll, each of the die cavities being defined by a configurated side wall and a porous bottom wall. During each revolution of the roll a batch of the product is forced into each cavity as the cavities pass beneath a hopper. Upon continued rotation of the roll, the bottom walls of the cavities are moved outwardly so as to force the configurated products from the die cavities. Tempered air at a controlled temperature and at a pressure above that of the atmosphere is directed through the porous bottom walls while the bottom wall is extended so that the configurated product is forced off of the wall and onto a conveyor located beneath the die roll. To facilitate cleaning of the porous dies, the die roll is so constructed that hot water may be directed through the air flow passage during cleaning and the porous bottom wall dies of the drum may be easily removed from the drum without drum disassembly.

  • Patent number: 4024990
Abstract: An apparatus for intermittently dispensing the contents of aerosol spray cans includes a pivotal actuator for opening and closing the valve of the aerosol can and a rotatable drive wheel for intermittently pivoting the actuator. The drive wheel carries a plurality of pins for pivoting the actuator as the wheel rotates, and the position of selected pins can be adjusted so that one or more pins do not engage the actuator. The wheel is rotated intermittently by an arm which reciprocates in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation and which engages one of the pins during each reciprocation.
