Shaping Surface Having Serrated Or Cutting Edge Patents (Class 425/281)
  • Patent number: 4844768
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching belt-like materials has a rotating unit for rotating a forming drum, a holding unit located apart from the forming drum for holding continuous belt-like materials along entire widths to be supplied to the forming drum, embracing units located between the forming drum and the holding units for embracing the belt-like materials along entire widths. A reciprocating unit is used for reciprocating the embracing units between the holding unit and the forming drum. A cutting unit is used for cutting in width directions the belt-like materials held by the holding unit and the embracing units. The apparatus includes control unit for controlling the rotating unit and the reciprocating unit so that circumferential speeds of the forming drum and moving speeds of the embracing means are at a constant ratio.

  • Patent number: 4812281
Abstract: Tire mold vents (34) in communication with a sealed cavity (35) are pressurized for limiting the quantity of rubber entering the vents (34) and for assisting the stripping of the vulcanized tire (28) from the mold. Passages (40) in the mold communicate fluid pressure to the vents (34) and pressure regulators (58,60) control the fluid pressure communicated to the vents (34) during vulcanization and during ejection of the tire (28) from the mold (10).

  • Patent number: 4769203
Abstract: A method of manufacturing pneumatic tires of different tread patterns by vulcanization building in full mold process is disclosed, which comprises providing a pair of mold members separable at a plane inclusive of a parting face perpendicular to the rotary axis of the tire, determining at least two joining position on these mold members at regular intervals, and properly selecting the joining position of each mold member so as to provide a different tread pattern.

  • Patent number: 4759701
Abstract: A venting unit is inserted in a press fit within the air vent of a rubber article forming mold and is comprised of a cylindrical body member with an axial bore having a reduced outer end section forming an air inlet open to the mold cavity. Received for reciprocal axial movement within the bore between an inlet closed position in abutting engagement with the outer end section and an inlet open position removed from the outer end section is a heat absorbing piston or disc. The opposite or inner end section of the bore receives a vented plug in a press fit to form a radially inwardly projected shoulder and a spring is held in compression between the disc and the shoulder of the vented plug. During expansion of the rubber article, pressurized air in the mold cavity urges the disc to its inlet open position and is vented to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4741682
Abstract: A tire molding press having a fixed bed and a crosspiece, which crosspiece is designed to travel, by virtue of a crank mechanism, along vertical guides formed partly along the uprights and partly along extensions of the same; the guide portions extending along the upright extensions enabling extra vertical travel of the crosspiece, and each being limited at the rear by a switch element which may be operated selectively for opening the respective guide at the rear and enabling the upper end of the respective connecting rod to slide backwards, with the crank fixed, and along an end surface of the respective upright, in such a manner as to tilt back the crosspiece.

  • Patent number: 4740145
Abstract: A tire mold having air and gas venting holes is provided with synthetic resin plugs mounted in enlarged bore portions of the vent holes adjacent the inner forming surface of the mold. The plugs are axially compressible and project a slight distance beyond the inner surface of the mold. The molding pressure of the material within the mold compresses the plug whereby an outer surface of the plug becomes generally flush with the inner surface of the mold cavity to substantially eliminate the formation of runners on the molded tire. The plugs preferably are formed of a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) filter leaf membrane material.
