  • Patent number: 4247275
Abstract: PCT No. PCT/US79/01107 PCT Filed Dec. 17, 1979 Sec. 371 Dec. 17, 1979 Sec. 102(e) Date Dec. 17, 1979.A method and apparatus for forming the mounting portion of a sidewall protector includes a rigid mold (19) in which a sidewall protector (12) can be formed and a separate plate assembly (29,31) which is moveable toward the rigid mold to form the mounting holes (10), central opening 11, and a pair of annular ribs (14,16) on opposite sides of the sidewall protector. Movement of the plate (32) is done by a plurality of springs (47) each positioned between the plate (32) and an enlarged head portion (48) of a pin (46). The springs are compressed by a linear actuator (43) and the pin (46) is connected to the mold (19) by a dowel (54) inserted through a hole (53) in the pin (46) to maintain the compression on the springs (47).

  • Patent number: 4205415
Abstract: A tapered nozzle slightly compresses a mass of ground frozen meat to form a cohesive mass while retaining the spaghetti-like shape of the ground strands to aerate the cohesive mass. A positive displacement pump forces the meat through a grinding plate and then through the nozzle to a rotating involute knife to form patties of frozen ground meat in a continuous process.

  • Patent number: 4142848
Abstract: A hinged carton integrally molded of polystyrene foam and adapted to be locked shut by a flap extending upwardly from the bottom part of the carton inside a side wall of the carton cover and carrying one or more prongs so that the latter will be biased outwardly to snap into a corresponding number of holes provided in said cover side wall, the ruggedness of said carton being materially enhanced over similar cartons of the prior art by the local beefing up of said cover side wall in the immediate areas bordering said holes incidental to the functioning of a novel method of and apparatus for manufacturing said carton. Said apparatus is embodied optionally in a forming tool or in a form-and-trim tool and embraces relatively vertically reciprocable carton shaping matched-molds operating on a heated thermo-plastic web of polystyrene foam to produce one or more entire cartons with each reciprocation.

  • Patent number: 4131406
Abstract: The tool incorporates a plurality of penetrating blades arranged in a stamping plane. The blades are secured to a platform grid. The blades paralleling an edge of the platform form a closed end of the tool. The blades taper from the platform attached portion to a penetrating tip forming a tapering transverse profile. Blades terminating opposite the closed end of the tool include a mating blade face having a longitudinal profile complimentary to the transverse profile so that when the tool is positioned against other similar tools in making impressions, the closed end-to-open end interface is made without gaps or voids thereby eliminating hand work in the finishing operation.

  • Patent number: 4106162
Abstract: A mold for forming a hamburger patty comprising upper and lower mold members. The lower mold comprises a flat disc portion of a suitable material such as stainless steel, etc. At the center of the disc, a wooden dowel or post extends upwardly, the dowel or post being annular or any other desired configuration. A half round rib extends annularly around the central dowel or post and spaced therefrom. The top of the mold is annular with a depending wall portion which defines the perimeter of the patty. The upper member has a central hollow post of the same shape as the lower dowel or post but with an internal diameter equal to the outer diameter of the lower post. This permits the upper post to slide over the lower post. The upper member is also provided with a complementary half round rib spaced from the central post and adapted to seat over the lower rib when the mold parts are positioned together. A glob or portion of ground meat is placed on the bottom portion of the mold surrounding the central post.

  • Patent number: 4098562
Abstract: A process and machine are described for the continuous production of reinforced concrete blocks in which a reinforcement member is cut and formed, positioned in an area of a molding station, a divided mold cavity is then defined about the reinforcement member and a paired block formed about the reinforcement member by introduction into the molding cavity of a hot slurry of cement fluid. The paired block thus formed is advanced on a pallet about circular conveyor means, passing through a curing area and ejection station where the cured block is removed from the pallet and the pallet returned to the molding station.

  • Patent number: 3994652
Abstract: This invention consists of a combined rolling pin and dough cutter. It is made up mainly of a central shaft provided with a handle at each end, and a series of abutting cylindrical rollers, all of the same diameter, rotate freely upon the central shaft to function as a rolling pin. To perform as a dough cutter, a series of circular cutting discs are inserted between the rollers. These discs are of a larger diameter than the rollers, so that their cutting edge extends beyond said rollers. One handle of the shaft is permanently fixed to the shaft while the other handle unscrews from the shaft to allow the insertion of the rollers and discs. One of the handles of the shaft is bored with a longitudinal hole into which is inserted a center pin which is used for cutting circular sections of dough used in pie making.

  • Patent number: 3976413
Abstract: An adjustable fish bait forming device is disclosed having a body, a pusher, a tip, an adjusting screw, an adjustment knob, the same being assembled in sequential order of tip and body, pusher within the body, an adjustment knob being at the end of the body remote from the tip. A piston is provided to reciprocate within a cylinder defined at the tip, beginning at a predetermined position within the cylinder so that a bait may be formed of infinitely variable length within the confines of the structure by pressing the tip into the bait, removing the same, and then actuating the pusher to remove the bait. As disclosed the threaded means for determining the position of the piston at the beginning of the formation of the dough is a left-hand thread in order to provide for clockwise adjustment to decrease the size of the bait. Also, at the top of the pusher, an index point is provided which operates in conjunction with graduations to predetermine the length of the bait.
