  • Patent number: 5057167
Abstract: A method of continuously manufacturing chip and fiberboard webs having uniform thickness across their width in a press comprising a centrally disposed press cylinder journalled to rotate in bearings in uprights and at least one pressure roller, and preferably three pressure rollers, disposed adjacent the periphery of the press cylinder. An endless steel band carrying the material for forming the web is subjected to tensile stress and is guided around the press cylinder and through the nip defined between the press cylinder and the pressure roller. The material is pressed between the endless steel band and the surface of the press cylinder. The pressure roller is journalled for rotation in bearings at each of its ends. When the press is in its loaded state, the bearing body at one end of the pressure roller is displaced by the application of a preselected pressure towards the axis of rotation of the press cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4957426
Abstract: An apparatus for stretching dough comprising two pairs of rollers and means for imparting vibrations to the dough positioned between the pairs of rollers is provided. In this apparatus, vibrations are imparted to dough, which causes the thixotropic effect in the dough. Such dough can be readily stretched by being subjected to a tensile stress caused by the difference in the peripheral speed of the pairs of rollers. • Patent number: 4885317
Abstract: Polymerized foam material in flat billet form is enclosed in a heat-retaining envelope and heated to forming temperature then promptly loaded into an innovative unheated forming press and accurately formed before cooling below forming temperature. The heat-retaining envelope has an expansive skin on one side and a contractive skin on the other side to facilitate bending without wrinkling or other distortion. The forming press utilizes a rigid male form punch and a spring-tensioned elastic belt, supported on a pair of variably-spaced rollers, initially presenting a flat compliant surface upon which the heated workpiece is placed. Pressure from the form punch progressively deflects the workpiece and the belt, which becomes a compliant mold member conforming itself and the workpiece progressively around the form punch to yield an article of required carved shape, free of wrinkles or tool creep distortions.

Abstract: A method of rolling a plastically deformable material which behaves as a single phase and which is deformed plastically when subject to deformation forces, which material comprises from 40% to 70% by weight of hydraulic cement and/or fly-ash particles A of from 0.5 to 100 .mu.m, silica particles B of from 50 .ANG. to 0.5 .mu.m (which are at least one order of magnitude smaller than the cement/fly-ash particles A), a surface-active dispersing system present in an amount sufficient to impart to the composite material a plastic consistency in a stress field of up to 200 kg/cm sq., and from 7% to 20% by weight water; the silica particles B being homogeneously arranged in the voids between the densely packed cement/fly-ash particles A, and the amount of water substantially corresponding to the amount necessary to fill the voids between the solid particles of the composite material.

  • Patent number: 4634363
Abstract: Apparatus for slitting and folding dough for cross-panning of the dough piece. One or more incisions are made in the dough piece so that it can be folded, and according to the method of the invention, after the incisions have been formed, the dough piece travels to the dough folding station between a moving element and a stationary control member (which may be a spring loaded control plate) so that the dough piece is forced to turn about its longitudinal axis. The length of this control movement is so arranged that the angular displacement of the dough piece causes the dough hinge or hinges to be in a desired orientation when the dough piece arrives at the folding station. In W-folding the center dough hinge is displaced from the side dough hinges by 180.degree., and the method and apparatus ensures that the dough piece is presented to the dough folding arrangement with the side dough hinges on the leading side of the dough piece.

  • Patent number: 4631017
Abstract: An apparatus for rolling plastic dough is provided. Two conveyors and one roller between them are serially arranged and driven at different speeds. A circular endless roller mechanism is disposed above the conveyors and adapted to be displaced along the conveyance path to adjust the thickness of a dough sheet to be obtained. The roller between the conveyors can move vertically to adjust the vertical distance from it to the endless roller path of the roller mechanism. The combination of these devices make possible an effective rolling and stretching of the dough while the thickness of the dough to be flattened is easily adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4601861
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an improved method and apparatus for continuously embossing a repeating pattern of precise detail, in particular, cube-corner type reflector elements, on one surface of a single sheet or on one surface of a laminate of transparent thermoplastic materials, to form retroreflective sheeting. A continuous embossing tool in the form of a flexible thin metal belt or cylinder has on its outer surface an embossing pattern which is the reverse of the precision optical pattern to be formed. The embossing tool is continously moved at a predetermined speed along a closed course through a heating station where the temperature of a portion of the embossing tool is raised to be above the glass transition temperature of the sheeting or laminate and a cooling station where the heated portion of the embossing tool is cooled while in a relatively planar condition to be below that glass transition temperature.

  • Patent number: 4600549
Abstract: Synchronous conveying belts are formed by modifying teeth grooves of a molding gear used in a molding device employing the gear. A groove plate is configured to fixedly mount in a bottom land of selected teeth of the molding gear for reducing the depth of the selected teeth of the belt to be molded. Sleeves for fixedly attaching the groove plate to the bottom land serve as molding post for forming passageways in the modified teeth extending from a backing of the belt to a top land of the modified teeth. Upon forming the reinforced elastomeric belt using the modified molding gear, transporting devices can be fastened to the backing of the belt using attachment fixtures.

  • Patent number: 4543225
Abstract: Method for reproducing relief structures onto a substrate, whereby between a die surface comprising holes or protuberances corresponding to the negative shape of the relief to be reproduced, and a substrate a hardenable liquid is deposited. After depositing the die surface and the substrate are at least locally forced together whereby the respective section of the die surface does not move in relation to the substrate in any other direction than perpendicular to the contact surface. During the following hardening of said liquid there is no mutual movement between the die surface and the substrate both of which remain forced together with a pressure which is smaller than the pressure during the initial pressing stage. The substrate and the die surface are separated after the liquid is hardened.
