Abstract: A mold and method for making a hollow core concrete block. The mold has two opposing side walls; a bottom wall; a front wall; a top side with an opening through which the block can be removed from the mold; a cover, and a rear side through which liquid, such as concrete, can be poured into the mold. Extending from the two side walls are a pair of trunnions about which the mold is rotatable, such that when the mold is suspended by the trunnions and the mold is empty, gravity rotates the mold from a block-removal orientation in which the top side faces upwards to a mold-filling orientation in which the rear side faces upwards. The trunnions are also positioned such that when the mold is filled with the liquid, gravity rotates the mold from the mold-filling orientation to the block-removal orientation.

The thermal conductivity of the material for the light guide plate mold core is less than that of stainless steel. Therefore the rate of spreading of heat in the light guide plate mold core is lower than that of a conventional light guide plate mold core, so that stresses within a formed light guide plate can be released more. Abstract: A method of, and an apparatus for, producing preforms from which bottles can be blown, are disclosed. The method includes using a piston (72) to force mouldable material (M) into a preform shaped cavity (52). The mouldable material enters via a feed pipe (68) and a valve (70). The cavity (52) is bounded by a female mould part (48) and by a male mould part (50) comprising a sleeve (56) and rod (58) with a head (60) at one end. The piston (72), as it advances, pushes the material (M) into the mould cavity (52). A blow mould cavity (54) receives the moulded preform and the core (50) so that the preform can be blown without being removed from the core.

  • Patent number: 6468381
Abstract: The present invention is an improved method for making a golf ball. Two cups are molded from an elastomer separately from a center. The cups are molded on both sides of a center mold plate with hemispherical protrusions having a channel circumventing the protrusions to capture excess cup material. The material in the channel aids in centering of the hemispherical cavity and allows the reduction or elimination of reinforcing polymer material. The protrusions force the elastomer cup material into cavities in outer mold plates on either side of the center mold plate, thus forming cups with cavities. The solid or fluid-filled center is placed within the cup cavities, and the cups are joined, preferably by raising the temperature of the mold above the cure activation temperature of the cup material.
