Abstract: An extrusion die has a distributing tool; a profiling nozzle; and at least three melt-flow ducts; a first melt-flow duct is routed around a second melt-flow duct or the distributing tool using a branch and is merged again downstream from the branch; and a third melt-flow duct opens into the second melt-flow duct. The extrusion die is suitable for extrusion of a hollow-chamber profiled panel of a thermoplastic plastic with a layered structure which comprises a top and bottom layer of a first plastic melt; and an intermediate layer of a second plastic melt disposed in an interior of a hollow chamber profile. The first plastic melt is allocated to the first melt-flow duct and to the second melt-flow duct and the second plastic melt is allocated to the third melt-flow duct. During the extrusion the second plastic melt is deposited onto the first plastic melt upstream from or in the region of the branch, and a distribution of the deposited second plastic melt is regulated using the distributing tool.

Abstract: The invention relates to an extrusion die assembly having a balanced flow path in which the die and tip modules cooperate to form an extended exit channel which communicates with an extrusion channel. The die is rotatably mounted on the die holder and the tip module is rotatably mounted within the axial bore. Each of the rotatably mounted components is independently driven by a motor. The motors are controlled to provide an infinite variation in relative rotational motion between the rotating components.

Abstract: Increase or decrease in rubber extruding rate can be freely adjusted while keeping a sectional shape of a rubber extruded intermediate constant. A discharge port of a rubber flow path of a die plate is of a flat shape with a lower section and a higher section and with a height varying along a width direction. An extruding speed from the discharge port of the die plate is made uniform at positions along the width direction of said rubber extruded intermediate.

Abstract: A novel apparatus for compressing viscous material through openings in a stencil is disclosed. The novel apparatus has a compress on head cap which provides a contained environment to direct and to aid the flow of pressurized viscous material through the openings in the stencil. In another embodiment of the invention, the compression head includes a viscous material reception chamber which has a certain shape which is effective to cause said received viscous material to be selectively dispensed while having a substantially uniform velocity profile and which further provides for the creation of a substantially uniform pressure profile.

  • Patent number: 6365091
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for making industrial continuous filament yarn by entangling a polyester multifilament yarn at high temperature, under yarn traction force less than 140 cN. By means of a tangling cop tube consisting of a body (1) provided with a perforated plate (2) and a deflection plate (3), heat is directly transmitted to the polyester filament and the air passing through the cop tube body (1) is directly transmitted to a metal block (8) with high thermal conductivity directly connected to the deflection plate (3). In the device for implementing said method, the deflection plate (3) is directly connected to a metal block (8) with high thermal conductivity, wherein a bore (7) is provided for housing a heating element. The polyester continuous filament designed for spinning applications, with a yarn count of 500-2000 dtex, has a resistance of at least 70 cN/tex for a breaking elongation less than 24%, and a knot strength higher than 80% and a spacing between 2 knots more than 4.0 cm.

Abstract: Apparatus for directing the flow of material from a supply source to one or more shaping dies has a flow channel therein. A flow directing insert (34A) located in the downstream region of the flow channel spreads the material toward the outer walls and improves uniformity of flow in an exit zone (40). In the downstream region (11), the channel height is gradually decreased and levels off near the exit. • Patent number: 6338622
Abstract: A pipe molding die of the present invention is capable of rectifying a flow of a molten resin by a resin reservoir and uniformizing the flow of the resin extruded from the die in whichever position in a peripheral direction on a flow path within the die. Consequently, ununiformity in wall thickness of the resin pipe to be molded can be eliminated. The pipe molding die comprises a throttle part as one of components thereof, which includes a core, a shell part fitted to the core and a resin reservoir as a portion of a flow path which is formed between the core and the shell part. A molten, resin as a pipe raw material flows through the flow path. The resin reservoir is provided in at least one of the core and the shell part, and takes a ring-like shape circumscribing a central axis of the pipe molding die with the central axis centered. The resin reservoir assumes a recessed shape in cross-section.

  • Publication number: 20010043991
Abstract: An inner syntactic foam insulator and an outer protective cover are co-extruded around a length of pipe. The protective cover is then rapidly solidified to retain the syntactic foam insulator in a desired shape about the length of pipe. The protective cover is preferably a thermoplastic or a thermosetting material. One technique for rapidly solidifying the thermoplastic protective cover is to bring the protective cover into contact with a liquid coolant (e.g., water). A thermosetting protective cover is rapidly solidified by heating the cover. According to another aspect of the invention, an inner syntactic foam insulator and an outer protective cover are co-extruded to provide an apparatus comprising the inner syntactic foam insulator encased by the outer protective cover. Advantageously, rapidly solidifying the protective layer provides a hard outer layer that protects the syntactic foam insulator as the insulator cures.
