The turret rotates to advance the core rods from the parison mold to the blow mold, and from the blow mold to the eject station. The machine has a rotating crank shaft. A translating mechanism translates the rotation of the crank shaft to a vertical reciprocating motion. A clamp beam is connected to the translating mechanism and is actuated by rotation of the crank shaft to move between raised and lowered positions which are separated by a fixed stroke.

Abstract: A blow mold assembly has a first and second carriage, and air cylinders for moving the first and second carriages along guide rods between an open position and a closed position. A first and second mold half are coupled respectively to the first and second carriages to define in the closed position at least one blow mold cavity. A lock situated on confronting surfaces of the first and second carriages locks the carriages together when the carriages are located in the closed position. The lock includes a pair of channel defining members coupled to one of the carriages having opposed edges including a series of teeth separated by interdental spaces, and a corresponding pair of cooperating toothed members coupled to another of the carriages and arranged to penetrate the interdental spaces. Each first mold half is movably mounted to the first carriage and is biased away from the second mold half.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming a hollow article, wherein all the operations such as shifting and opening/closing of a die are performed by electric actuators such as motors which operate in accordance with a program operation, thus improving the quality of the hollow article as the product. A parison extruded from an extruder is introduced into and held in a die which has been opened by the operation of a die compacting motor. A crosshead associated with the extruder is lifted to draw the parison, and a parison cutting motor operates to cut the drawn parison. Thus, fully automatic production is realized, to ensure high yield of the product.

  • Patent number: 5449284
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a hollow article having a blow molded portion and a compression molded portion. Plastic is extruded over a blow pin assembly to form a parison having an open end and a diameter larger than the diameter of the article's mouth. The blow pin is movable relative to the parison and includes a male mold member on its end. The male mold member has a molding surface corresponding in shape to the compression molded portion of the article. A cutting member is also provided on the blow pin. The cutting member is also movable relative to said parison. Once the parison is enclosed in a hollow mold, the male mold member of the blow pin compresses a portion of the parison between the second portion of the hollow mold and the molding surfaces of the male mold member so as to form the compression molded portion of the article.
