  • Patent number: 9157246
Abstract: A method for extruding and depositing a slurry or mortar onto a selected work surface uses a mortar gun assembly with a chamber for receiving mortar from a remote supply hopper and an extruder configured to selectively apply a bead or ribbon of mortar of selected thickness onto the work surface. The mortar gun assembly provides mortar from the hopper under pressure and the user selectively applies mortar by controlling a rotating port valve between the hopper and the mortar gun chamber. The rotating port valve provides a “rest state” in which the mortar is not sent to the mortar gun, but is instead re-circulated by the pump back to the hopper so un-dispensed mortar is kept moving and cannot dry or set.

Abstract: Fresh concrete is treated with carbon dioxide prior to delivery to a product mold for forming concrete products. Carbon dioxide gas is directed through a manifold, which may be coupled to a feedbox or a hopper, upstream from the product mold. Treating the fresh concrete with the carbon dioxide gas while it is in a loose state prior to placement in the product mold may generally promote uniform and enhanced carbon dioxide uptake.

Abstract: The conductive polyrotaxane of the present invention contains an electron-accepting cyclic molecule in each of its repeating unit. Since the electron-accepting cyclic molecule remains stable because of molecular interaction with a ?-conjugated oligomer molecule, the electron-accepting cyclic molecule is not dissociated during rotaxane polymerization reaction, and thus a conductive polyrotaxane of stable quality can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 6540435
Abstract: A molding device for placement of formed cementitious material such as concrete on a mounting surface. The device is used in combination with a supply of pressurized cementitious material communicated through a hose from a conventional cement pump or the like. It features a mold unit having an a compression chamber at a first end communicating with an extrusion chamber at a second end. Cement material is forced into the compression chambers from the cement pump and extruded from the exit orifice of the extrusion chamber. The device is propelled forward by the pressure from the injected cement against the front of the device and away from the formed material means control any upward travel of said mold unit caused by said internal pressure against said top wall. Weights may be added to the top of the device to limit upward travel and a steering mechanism may be added to the front of the device to steer it on a defined course.

  • Publication number: 20030003173
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for method for fabricating a concrete product in a substantially horizontal slip-form casting process, in which method concrete mix is fed into a slip-form mold of a defined cross section moving progressively in the casting process so as to give a concrete product of a desired shape. The method is characterized by the measurement of the input power need of the concrete mix feed and compaction, whereupon the travel resistance of the casting machine is controlled based on the value of a measured process variable. The invention can eliminate quality variations in a slip-form cast product that are caused by changes in the density of the concrete mix and the travel resistance of the casting machine.

Abstract: A spiral conveyor for a concrete extrusion machine has a first spiral conveyor section with a first external diameter. There is a second spiral conveyor section having a second external diameter which is greater than the first diameter. The second section is spaced apart from the second section. A third spiral conveyor section is between the first section and the second section. The first end of the third section is connected to the first section and the second end is adjacent to the second section. The second spiral conveyor section may be mounted on a hollow shaft of the third section. The second section has two longitudinally divided components, each having a recess therein. Connectors interconnect the two components and a locking device is between the hollow shaft and the second section.

  • Patent number: 5997270
Abstract: A flexible automated trowel for sliding formwork machine allowing the finishing of a continuous trapezoidal wall of the type having one rectangular side and one side inclined towards the top or with two angular sides. A mold supporting the trowel comprises two straight sides, an enlarging setback originating from a formwork line. A driveway cutter proceeds from the enlarging setback in the direction of the slope of the angular wall. The cutter may have a concave face which is to be placed against a moldable face to produce a superior convex face to the continuous wall. Materials like concrete for curbs, gutters, driveway entrances may be continuously poured and necessitate little or no finishing touches.

  • Patent number: 5820887
Abstract: Pre-stressed concrete railroad ties are manufacture by the slip form process in the absence of mold members, other than the slip form itself. Tie casting occurs on a portable casting soffits between portable soffit anchored deadmen supporting the pre-stressed tie tensile members immediately overlying the casting soffit. Tie formation occurs with the slip form passing around and over the pre-stressed tension members. Track fastening hardware is vibrationally inserted through windows of the slip form to place the track fastening hardware to precise measured dimension along the route of slip form movement and to configure that portion of the tie adjacent the track fastening hardware. End of tie locations as well as tie batch identification are likewise marked during the slip form process. Upon cure, the ties are cut at their marked end location.

Abstract: Foamed plastic is applied on a roof substrate by progressively dispensing expandable plastic foam material on the substrate along a path and progressively confining the vertical and lateral expansion of the material along the path and relative to the substrate. Apparatus for applying the foamed plastic comprises a platform having opposite ends and opposite sides having an endless belt supported on the platform for displacement relative thereto in the direction between the opposite ends. The belt is supported above the roof substrate by laterally spaced rails or by tracks on the belt, and a motor is provided on the platform for driving the belt to move the platform along the path. A dispensing gun is supported on the front end of the platform for dispensing expandable plastic foam material onto the substrate ahead of the belt and vertical and lateral expansion of the material is confined by the belt and rails or tracks as the platform moves along the path.

  • Patent number: 5554392
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved apparatus for the production of substantially vertical walls, and specifically, walls made of concrete which includes a single sided concrete form used, for example, to form a concrete wall against a preexisting wall or embankment, by pumping concrete into a gap between the form and the preexisting wall or embankment, and raising the form vertically as the pumped concrete settles and drys. The apparatus enables the construction of vertical walls of superior strength in less time as compared to currently available systems.

  • Patent number: 5533888
Abstract: A system for continuously forming a concrete structure that extends in a generally horizontal direction and has a predetermined cross-sectional configuration is provided. The system includes a frame, a first form, and a second form. The first and second forms are coupled to the frame and support at least a portion of the sides of the concrete structure being formed. The second form forms a pattern in one of the outside surfaces of the concrete. The first form may also form a pattern. The pattern includes concave and convex portions that extend other than just in the horizontal direction. The second form coacts with the first form to enclose an area having a cross-sectional configuration corresponding to the predetermined cross-sectional configuration of the concrete structure. The frame includes a side arm assembly that slidingly engages the outside of one or both of the forms.
