  • Patent number: 5322381
Abstract: An applicator tip structure and method for applying a flexible sealant material on and around the heads of fasteners and on and around the surface surrounding the fastener head to prevent fluid passage between the fastener and the materials through which the fastener passes. The applicator tip has an outlet opening that is greater than the diameter of the sealant passageway in the applicator tip and that also is greater than the largest transverse dimension of the fastener, to provide an overlap area around the fastener head. In use the applicator tip is applied over the fastener head and is pressed into the surrounding surface around the fastener head to define an enclosure around the fastener head, into which enclosure the sealant material is injected to completely surround the fastener head and the adjacent surface to completely seal the fastener from fluid passage therearound.

  • Patent number: 5302205
Abstract: A tool for guiding filler material, such as caulking or putty, into a nail hole or similar opening in a structure so that a smooth, unblemished finished surface may be obtained. The tool comprises a thin plate having a plurality of holes therethrough, the holes being of different diameters; and a handle attached to one end of the plate. In use, the plate is positioned so that a hole in the plate is aligned with a nail hole and filler material is urged through the hole in the plate to fill the nail hole. The handle is oriented at a low angle in relation to the plate so that the user may rest his hand on the structure to steady the tool while guiding filler material into an opening. The holes are of different diameter to provide a hole which may be of substantially the same diameter as the nail hole being filled. The holes are perpendicular to a tangential surface have a wider diameter at the bottom of the plate than at the top of the plate.

  • Patent number: 5021202
Abstract: Rammed building walls having an earth core and integral cement jackets are formed by placing a rectangular earth hopper within a rectangular wall moulding cavity that is defined by formwork members which are aligned with an underlying foundation. The hopper is filled with earth while outside of the moulding cavity and has a trapdoor as its bottom. The moulding cavity has a substantially greater width than the width of the hopper so that jacket cavities are formed on either side of the hopper. A pair of tiltable cement hoppers, filled with concrete or a sand and cement mix, are mounted on the earth hopper and are tiltably unloaded into the jacket cavities. The trapdoor is then released so that the earth slides downwardly and laterally, and the hoppers are lifted as a unit out of the moulding cavity while the earth fills a core cavity between the mix-filled jacket cavities. Both the earth and mix are then rammed simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4516868
Abstract: A mastic applicator or "flat box" for use in application of mastic to tape drywall joints includes a container for storing and dispensing mastic. The container has a pressure plate which both supports the apparatus from a handle and applies pressure to force the mastic from an opening that extends across the direction of motion of the tool. To distribute and contour the mastic a flexible blade assembly extends along the rearmost edge of the opening and is positively driven through a range of infinitely adjustable positions by a means of a lever and camming linkage arrangement. The entire adjustment mechanism is itself adjustably mounted so as to selectively adjust the entire adjustment range.

  • Patent number: 4496510
Abstract: An activity toy with which a child may create needle craft like textured designs using plastic or amorphous solid substances. In order to simulate the strands or nubs that create the textured design in neddle crafts a stand supported on a surface holds a screen having mesh spaces extending between the opposed sides of the screen. The stands hold the screen spaced from the surface with one side of the screen facing the child. An extruder for the plastic substance is positioned adjacent the side of the screen away from the child and moved under the screen to force the substance through the mesh spaces to create the needle craft like texture. The extrusion opening is a larger than the mesh spaces so that a mat or backing retains the textured design on the screen. To facilitate the creation of aesthetically pleasing designs, preprinted patterns or outlines are provided on the screen.

  • Patent number: 4452285
Abstract: In a dispensing device for filling boreholes with a single or multi-component adhesive, filler, sealer or primer, the material is conveyed from storage containers holding the individual components through a supply pipe and an outlet nozzle which dispenses the material directly into the borehole. By manually operating a handle lever, material is displaced out of the storage container into the supply pipe. Further, an actuating unit operated by the handle lever is connected to the outlet nozzle for telescoping it relative to the supply pipe whereby material is displaced out of the supply pipe through the outlet nozzle into the borehole.

  • Patent number: 4451223
Abstract: An improved corner finishing tool for applying mastic along a wall joint and having a container that defines a cavity open in two convergent and substantially perpendicular planes, said cavity being bordered by surfaces that converge peripherally of said cavity, said container means comprising a pair of rigid retainer plates joined together by a pair of spring loaded hinges or fasteners and biased to a position of resilient flex. A pair of lever arms pivotally secured to an edge portion of the retainer plates and pivotally joined together at one end are acted upon by leaf springs which engage the lever arms at selected positions relative to the pivotal connection for adjusting the resilient flex between the pair of retainer plates. Mastic material is fed into the cavity through a socket bracket that is mounted to one of the retainer plates to which there is also mounted an alignment wheel.

  • Patent number: 4332498
Abstract: An improved sealant applicator having a nozzle, a mixer, and a mixer hydraulic motor for dispensing an elastomeric sealant formed by mixing a first component and a second component. A first and a second component conduit are connected to the mixer for delivering the first and the second components to the mixer and a first and a second hydraulic conduit cooperate in delivering hydraulic fluid to the mixer hydraulic motor. The first and the second component conduits and the first and the second hydraulic conduits are retained within a flexible conduit which cooperates to maintain a close proximity between the conduits so heat from the hydraulic conduits heats the components flowing through the component conduits. The various components of the sealant applicator are supported on or connected to a frame and the frame is rollingly supported on wheels. The sealant applicator includes means for rotatingly driving the wheels in a forward and a rearward direction for drivingly moving the frame.

  • Patent number: 4230441
Abstract: A cement applicator for outside corners such as those used in dry wall construction which includes a container for the cement having an open front and a back wall which is moveable along tracks when pressure is applied thereto to force cement out of the front and into the corner. The tool also includes at least two wheels positioned to track along the edge of the corner to be finished and adjacent wipers which are biased to form an angle less than a 90.degree. angle therebetween about the wheels. The wipers include peripheral seals which in combination with the biasing action and the regulation of the tool position by means of the wheels finish the surface of the cement applied to the corner. The wipers may be of different lengths to provide for corners such as those found on stud walls or around windows.

  • Patent number: 4199311
Abstract: An extrusion implement includes a pair of generally cylindrical housing portions connected to one another by sets of complementary threads to permit a telescoping of one portion into the other. An open end of the smaller cylindrical portion is partially closed or restricted by one of a plurality of end caps providing various shaped apertures. A viscous material, such as modeling clay, is inserted within the cylindrical portions and a biasing device is provided to constantly urge the viscous material outwardly through the aperture. Relative rotation of the housing portions causes a telescoping effect to regulate the amount of pressure applied by the biasing device. An end cap is pivotally mounted to close the opening when the implement is not in use.

  • Patent number: H982
Abstract: A process is provided which produces a waterproof membrane and applies this waterproof membrane directly to a fixed substrate. The process includes the steps of providing a polymeric material; melting the polymeric material; forcing the melted polymeric material through a movable die, the movable die shaping the polymeric material melt into a film; moving the movable die across the fixed substrate; and applying the film directly to the fixed substrate forming a waterproof membrane. The polymeric material is one of those known in the art to be useful as roofing material. In a preferred embodiment, this process produces a sealing membrane which is applied to a roof of a structure forming a membrane effective to protect the structure from intrusion of water. In another aspect, an apparatus is provided which is capable of performing the process of this invention.
