Spring Patents (Class 425/DIG127)
  • Patent number: 6004125
Abstract: An apparatus for the production of pile-up lids, each of which comprises an upper wall (1) and an element (2) arranged around the perimeter of said upper wall (1) and which forms a lip (3) protruding above said upper wall (1), and skirt (4) extending below said upper wall (1). The apparatus is used for carrying out a process which includes bringing together in a synchronous manner external sector elements (9) and internal sector elements (10) in radially opposite directions so that, owing to the forced approach of the contact surfaces of the external and internal sector elements (9, 10) with said upper lip (3) of said lid interposed between them, a reeding pressure-moulding is obtained on both the inner and the outer surfaces of said upper lip (3), giving said lip (3) an outline to allow piling up on other similar lids.

  • Patent number: 5866176
Abstract: A moulding system for moulding a mass with a pasty or dough-like composition, such as a mass of meat, for example for moulding hamburgers, includes a housing having a chamber which is delimited by internal walls of the housing. The chamber emerges on the outside of the housing. A displaceable mould plate, which is formed in a manner corresponding to the chamber, fits with a small degree of play into the chamber and has at least one mould cavity. The housing has a feed opening, which opens into the chamber, for the mass to be moulded, such that, in the position in which the mould plate has been slid into the housing, the mould cavity is in communication with the feed opening and, in the position in which the mould plate has been slid out of the housing, the mould cavity is situated outside the housing.

  • Patent number: 5851699
Abstract: A toggle mechanism in a vertical clamping apparatus for an injection mold is supported by spring forces when operated by an electric motor in the vicinity of the mold's closing to counteract the effect of gravity on operation of the mold.

  • Patent number: 5538578
Abstract: A method of joining end portions of a weatherstrip consists of introducing the end portions to openings in a mold such that a seal portion of the weatherstrip is compressed substantially to the shape of a seal lip of the seal portion. The end portions are separated in the mold by a predetermined gap and a rubber material is injected into the gap for mutually bonding the end portions of the weatherstrip. Such a method of joining allows the weatherstrip to be installed on complexly shaped openings with no degradation of sealing characteristics over the perimeter covered by the weatherstrip. A molding apparatus for joining said end portions includes a clamping member for assuring correct positioning of a sealing edge of the weatherstrip.

  • Patent number: 5484276
Abstract: An apparatus for curing a sheet molding compound which comprises at least one pair of molds disposed along a path of transport of the sheet molding compound. The molds defines a cavity therebetween for passage of the sheet molding compound, which has been generally semi- cured and shaped by a shaping apparatus to a predetermined shape, to heat the generally semi-cured sheet molding compound. At least one of the molds is in the form of a movable mold effective to vary a cross-sectional shape of the cavity to follow a thermal expansion and shrinkage which take place in the sheet molding compound during a curing process.

  • Patent number: 5462421
Abstract: A method and mold apparatus are provided for forming and trimming a vehicle inner door panel. The panel is a shaped laminate including a vinyl cover layer and a structural foam backing layer having a glass fiber reinforcing substrate. Upper and lower mold members have peripheral seals which define a mold cavity when the mold is closed. A plurality of movable trim blades are carried by the lower mold member adjacent the seal. The trim blades move among retracted, intermediate and extended positions. Hydraulic rams open and close the mold and move the trim blades. Sheets of vinyl and substrate are placed across the lower mold member and the mold is closed to seal the substrate and vinyl layer about their periphery. As the mold closes, abutment surfaces on both mold members advance the trim blades to an intermediate position to pinch the cover layer against the substrate inwardly of the peripheral seals. A two-part polyurethane liquid foam system is injected into the cavity.
