Abstract: Disclosed is a system for, or method of, packaging a product within a packaging bag, wherein the packaging bag includes an inner liner and an outer liner. The method including the steps of marking the inner liner with a first marking unit, filling the bag with the product, and subsequently marking the outer liner with a second marking unit. The markings may be machine readable and/or randomly generated and stored in a database. The system may further include a machine reader, which is capable of accessing the database, and which is capable of reading the markings on the inner liner and/or the outer liner, to thus determine if an outer liner subsequently removed from an inner liner is/was the same outer liner associated with the same inner liner, at the time when the bag was filled and/or packaged.

Abstract: A resealable closure for packages is provided which has a package integrity feature. The closure includes a two-ply material having an inner film layer and an outer film layer, forming a top of container. The outer film layer has a sealing panel completely covering a first panel and a second panel of the inner film layer. The sealing panel is permanently attached to the first panel and is releasably affixed a portion of the inner film layer around the perimeter of the first panel to form an opening in the top when the sealing panel with affixed first panel is peeled back from the top. The sealing panel is resealable against the top to seal the opening when the sealing panel is moved back against the top. The package integrity feature comprises the second panel of the inner layer which separates from the sealing panel to indicate that the container has been previously opened.

Abstract: A tubular bag packaging for bar-shaped food products is made of a film with first and second longitudinal edges. The film has a first seal section at the first longitudinal edge. A flap section at the second longitudinal edge has a second seal section along the second longitudinal edge. The film is closed at the seal sections by forming a continuous back seam in longitudinal direction as a fold-over seam. The film is sealed at transverse edges by transverse seams. The back seam has end face edges adjoining the transverse seams. The flap section has a linear separation cut as a tearing aid disposed on at least one of the end face edges and extending away from the end face edge in longitudinal direction. The film in the area of the second seal section with linear separating cut has a pressure deformation line that extends in longitudinal direction.

Abstract: A flexible film package for storing food products comprises a body with a side wall, a closed bottom end, and a closed top end. The body includes a primary line of weakness and a pair of secondary lines of weakness formed in the side wall. Each of the primary and secondary lines of weakness includes a plurality of score lines spaced apart by non-scored portions of the side wall. The score lines of the primary line of weakness have a greater length, width, and depth than the score lines of the secondary lines of weakness. The non-scored portions between the score lines of the primary line of weakness are longer than the non-scored portions between the score lines of the secondary lines of weakness.

Abstract: A single-use storage and dispensing container is provided for use with small volumes of consumer products. The container is generally sleeve-like, sealed at both ends to contain the flowable material, and is scored or otherwise includes a break point for rupture by a user to dispense the container contents. Application of a threshold pressure to the container by the user will cause the container to rupture at the break point, dispensing flowable material therefrom. The container is suitable for one-handed use. Various cross sectional shapes of the sleeve are possible.

Abstract: A food package for sliced food products to be maintained with a fluffed appearance, the package including a base member forming a compartment for receiving the food product and a lid sealed to the compartment. The base member has a gripping portion and the lid has a tab which overlies the gripping portion when the lid is connected to the base member. In one form, the gripping portion of the base member has a plurality of edges that define an outer profile of the gripping portion and expose a portion of a lower surface of the tab. The outer profile limits tacking of the tab to the gripping portion when the lid and base member are cut from respective webs of material. Additionally, a method is provided for assembling a food container.

Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus to ease the consumption of drink and food including a sleeve of flexible material, a perforation formed in one end of the sleeve configured to be removed and form an opening in communication with a chamber formed in the sleeve. The apparatus also includes a straw with a first end to be inserted into the chamber through the sleeve, and a second end with at least one prong to be inserted into the chamber and the food. The second end may be inserted through the opening. The invention also provides a method of consuming food and drink from an apparatus. The invention further provides a method of assembling a snack apparatus.

A water equilibrium variable pressure drying device comprises a space encircled with wall material (1) capable of preventing fluid from passing, sealable inlet and outlet (2), and water outlet (4). A processing method of water equilibrium variable pressure dried foods enables vacuum storage and vacuum package by the water equilibrium variable pressure drying device. A package for water equilibrium variable pressure dried foods is disclosed, wherein the sealing structure of at least one side or one edge of the package is harmonica-type structure.

Abstract: A container for condiments includes a container portion having generally planar bottom, a generally parallel flange, and defining a cavity having a discharge spout adjacent the parallel flange. The container further includes a generally planar cover portion fashioned from a material more flexible that the material of the container portion and secured to the flange by an adhesive. The container preferably includes a weakened region transversely aligned with the spout but not having fluid communication therewith. Moreover, the container preferably includes a peel initiating structure aligned with the spout but spaced therefrom effective to reduce the peeling force required to separate the cover portion from the container portion.

Abstract: A flexible container for containing a quantity of pourable product is disclosed herein. The flexible container includes a bag having a first closed end and a second closed end and a wall extending between the first closed end and the second closed end to define a closed cavity. The flexible container also includes a plurality of tearable score lines in the bag spaced from one another to define a plurality of differently configured intended openings in the bag.

Abstract: Disclosed is an article of manufacture including bag having a front surface; a rear surface; two side surfaces each having a gusset therein and connecting the front and rear surfaces; a flattenable bottom surface formed by connecting the front, rear, and side surfaces; and a top surface formable by connecting the front, rear, and side surfaces. The bag has a height, a width, and a depth, and defines an internal volume. The bag is sealable and has a seal strength of at least about 1,600 pounds per square inch. The bag is formed from a plastic laminate having a thickness of from about 130 to about 200 microns and a tensile strength of at least about 3,400 pounds per square inch. The article of manufacture also includes at least about 15 pounds of a particulate, flowable composition contained therein. The bag can also have a closure system comprising a non-reusable closure and a reusable closure.

Abstract: An on-demand drinking adapter for use with a beverage container is disclosed. The adapter includes a base with an upper surface and generally cylindrical sides which extend below the upper surface. The cylindrical sides are adapted for temporarily fastening the adapter to a mouth of a beverage container. The adapter also includes a spout with a vertically extending surface, a second surface, and an on-demand drinking aperture. The spout extends above the upper surface and the vertically extending surface is curved and coextensive with a portion of the cylindrical sides.

Abstract: Celery can be commercially harvested by removing the top portion of the celery plant to leave the bottom portion of the celery plant attached to the stem in the ground. After removing the top portion of the celery, the celery is cut above the stem to separate the plurality of individual petioles. The separated individual petioles are then washed, and packaged into a sleeve. The top portion of the celery plant, the separation of the plurality of individual petioles, as well as the washing of the individual petioles are performed in the field in which the celery plant was grown.

The beverage end (14) is adapted for use with products that are pressurised to over 30 psi (207 kPa) when opened, and during opening the vent score (46) is adapted to sever first, controlling the pressure differential between the external surface and internal surface of the centre panel (30), thereby allowing the main score (50) to tear in a controlled and reliable manner.

Abstract: A can end that is attached to a metal can body with a bottom end forming a cavity that may be filled with food, liquid, etc. The can end is made of metal with a bead configuration located in the outer circumference of the can end that increases its resistance to deformation when subjected to high pressure cooking environments and assists in preventing the can end from separating along the frangible score.

Abstract: An improved method of preparing vegetables intended for microwave cooking allows a hot, cooked vegetable to be easily removed from an enveloping film. The vegetables are cleaned and seasonings and cooking aids such as oils are optionally applied to the vegetable. Then the prepared vegetables are enclosed by and sealed into a plastic film. The film protects the vegetable from excess desiccation and provides a “built-in” container for microwave cooking. The film includes an opening system for safely releasing the vegetable after cooking. A tear-strip includes an edge or tab for grasping so that the film can be opened by a simple pull.

Abstract: Flexible film packages having a partial, initial seal against ambient atmosphere and are easily openable and reclosable. The flexible film packages are generally resealable to extend the shelf-life or freshness of products contained therein once the package is initially opened. By one approach, the flexible film has two opposing edge portions that meet to form a longitudinal seal extending from a first end seal to a second end seal. The flexible film may have a score that defines a package opening. An elongated closure layer may extend over the score and may extend from a first end seal to a second end seal and within the opposing edge portions that form the longitudinal seal. The elongated closure layer may have a tack-free gripping portion used to release at least a portion of the elongated closure from the flexible film to form the package opening.

Abstract: A shrink-film seal (101, 201, 301, 401) is described having at least one stamped portion (102, 402, 602, 702) which is arranged along the circumference of a container (203, 303) which is to be sealed. The regions which are defined by the stamping lines are designed in such a way that at least one contiguous window is produced by a shrinking process. This achieves a situation where the opening of the sealed container can be immediately detected simply, without aids or expert knowledge and therefore a considerable increase in the product security is ensured. A method is also described for sealing containers with a shrink-film seal (101, 201, 301, 401).

Abstract: A layer cutting apparatus includes a tray having an interior defined by a bottom and sidewall. A sleeve is at least partially disposed in the interior of the tray, and a cutting line is attached to the sleeve. The cutting line is configured to be removed from the sleeve by pulling the line away from the tray at one point of the sidewall.

The tearable score line is exposed and directly graspable such that the bag is operable to function as a dish when the second portion is removed.

Abstract: A system and method for formulating compositions of concentrated liquid sugar that are provided in individual serving sizes in recyclable and compostable packaging, which are configured for ease of use. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the liquid sugar composition comprises at the very least a predetermined ratio of a finite amount of natural, organic, pure cane sugar or natural sugar substitute, to a finite amount of water. The composition of liquid sugar in accordance with the preferred embodiment has a brix degree measurement greater than 67.5. The preferred compositions of concentrated liquid sugar are formulated with different ingredients that are configured to sweeten a desired drink uniformly, while dissolving instantly and without diluting it unnecessarily and spoiling its natural taste. Moreover, these preferred compositions of liquid sugar are completely devoid of any taste other than that of natural sugar, nor do they have any discernible color.

Abstract: A reclosable package having an opening panel such that when the panel is in a closed position, the confectionery product within the package is retained and when the panel is in an open position, the product is exposed for dispensing. The confectionery product may be oriented in a manner with respect to the opening defined by the opening panel to provide easy access to a consumer.

Abstract: An infant formula dispensing apparatus has a receptacle for receiving a sealed pod containing an amount of infant formula powder sufficient for a single feeding of a predetermined size. When the pod is placed in the receptacle, a fixture of the apparatus pierces the pod and forces warm water through the pod. The water mixes with the infant formula powder in the pod and exits the pod though a spout, where it is received in a receptacle, such as a lidless baby bottle.

Upon removal of the top portion, the curved semi-rigid strips are moveable between a closed position and an open position. Further, the curved semi-rigid strips are configured such that they automatically reclose the package when the strips are released from the open position.
