Abstract: Roast ground coffee or the like is layered and confined between water permeable walls while brewing in a cup or mug from which it is to be consumed. The walls with coffee layered between may be wound, folded or stacked to form the desired packet. The walls include a filter material and may also include a reticulated heat sealable sheet next to the coffee. Separators between coffee confining walls promote water circulation and speed brewing.

Abstract: An improved method of brewing coffee and a device therefor are disclosed. The method involves the steps of providing a coffee brewing device having a porous housing containing a supply of ground coffee and having a self-supporting handle dimensioned to be hand-held attached thereto for positioning and stirring the housing in a liquid, the housing also including a vent for venting gases from an interior portion of the housing, the gases being generated during brewing, at least partially submerging the housing in the liquid and stirring the housing in the liquid using the handle to produce a flow of liquid in the housing, and controlling the flow of liquid produced within the housing to create turbulence therein to agitate the ground coffee while the generated gases are being vented from the housing by the vent for rapid brewing of the coffee.

Abstract: A coffee brewing device includes a housing for holding ground coffee with at least one wall of the housing being formed from a permeable filtering membrane which permits a flow-through of water. The interior of the housing is vented to the atmosphere through an attached conduit, which can be used as a handle, so as to permit the escape of gases which are generated when the coffee grounds are submerged in a cup of hot water. Baffles which serve to control the extent and direction of gas movement may be positioned in the housing. By such control, the generated gases may be utilized to agitate the coffee grounds to thus get a more complete mixing of the grounds with the water prior to a venting of the gases to the atmosphere. The baffles may be of both a perforated and non-perforated design so as to control gas bubble size and direction of flow.

Abstract: A disposable, individual coffee container and filter unit including a flat frame having an apertured center section, filter layers covering the top and bottom of the frame and being secured thereto, and individual quantities of coffee received in compartments formed in the frame between the spider-like center sections thereof. Additionally, a coffee brewing receptacle having an apertured base and a retainer flange in the base thereof for engaging the coffee carrying flat frame is provided.

Abstract: A double compartment bag constructed of flexible porous material for containing a beverage infusion commodity is provided. The bag includes a pair of independent infusion commodity compartments with the compartments defined in opposited halves of a rectangular bag. A central median portion of the bag separates the compartments from each other and defines a line along which the bag may be folded in half. An inverted U-shaped resilient clip is also provided including short and long legs, and the short leg of the clip includes structure defining a finger engageable tab. The clip is engaged with the bag having its long leg extending along the aforementioned median portion of the bag on the side thereof defining the included angle of the bag when it is folded and the short leg of the clip is engaged over the outer surface of a cup into which the bag is placed.

Abstract: A dosage pack includes a first and a second permeable bag joined to one another along a common seam and being arranged in a face-to-face relationship by folding the bags onto one another along a fold line extending in the common seam. A holder string positioned between the two bags has a first end attached to one of the bags and a second end attached to a tag positioned externally of the two bags.
