The adhesive ink preferably comprises a mixture of an RTV adhesive, oil based thinner and/or pigment. In various processes, the ink is silk-screen printed and air-dried. One or more foils can be bonded to the rubber with different techniques. The foil can be vulcanized to the rubber substrate, bonded to a wet ink, or bonded under pressure to exposed smooth surfaces. The surface texture can be defined during and after vulcanization at the mold and with a smoothing template or with printed ink.

The width of the adhesive strips are less than the silicone strips.

    Abstract: A process for tipping surgical sutures includes dispensing tipping agent one drop at a time and contacting the suture portion to be tipped with the drop of tipping agent. A transversely oriented lifting/wiping string may be used to lift the suture into contact with the drop and may wipe away excess tipping agent. Alternatively, a transversely oriented string may be used to catch a drop and then place the drop onto the suture. The tipping agent absorbed into the tipped portion can then be cured and cut to provide a tipped suture. The tipping process and apparatus can be used in conjunction with a needle-suture assembly process. The process advantageously controls application of a droplet of tipping agent to minimize the amount of tipping agent used, thereby providing an aesthetic needle-suture attachment. Apparatus are disclosed for performing the process.

The exterior surface of the tubular member is coated with a water-insoluble coating which is comprised of from between about 95 to about 98 percent by weight of a polymeric material and from between about 2 to about 5 percent by weight of a slip agent. The coating provides the tubular member with a dry coefficient of kinetic friction ranging from between about 0.35 to about 0.56 and a wet coefficient of kinetic friction ranging from between about 0.78 to about 1.06. These low dry and wet coefficient of kinetic friction values facilitate insertion of the applicator into the body cavity.

Where permanent adhesive is used for the linerless labels, each perforation line comprises 45-58 cuts per inch, and has a percent of hold of 45-58%, with each cut having a thickness of about 0.028 inches. When repositional adhesive is used each perforation line comprises 30-45 cuts per inch, with a percent of hold of 25-35%. At least one, and typically substantially all, of the perforation lines have substantially V or U-shaped enlarged end terminations to facilitate dispensing of the labels. The perforations are formed by applying a perforation pressure of about 500-600 lbs.

The grooves and reservoirs are filled with a filler material which is solid or gels at room temperature and liquid at higher temperatures. The bonded pair of wafers are severed into a plurality of individual printhead sby dicing processes conducted at room temperature. One of the dicing processes cuts the grooves in a direction perpendicular thereto in order to form concurrently the nozzle face and nozzles. The solid filler material supports fragile edges of the wafers and prevents entry of dicing debris and other contaminants. The printheads are subjected to heat, spinning, and high pressure water spray to remove the filler material.
