Abstract: In the present invention, a holding table incorporating a heater is provided, for example, in a treatment container of a planarization unit. A pressing plate having a lower surface formed flat is disposed above the holding table. The pressing plate is movable in the vertical direction and can lower to the holding table to press a resist film on the substrate from above. The pressing plate intermittently presses the upper surface of the resist film to planarize the upper surface while the heater is heating the substrate on the holding table at a predetermined temperature to dry the resist film. According to the present invention, a coating film applied on the substrate can be sufficiently planarized and dried.

Abstract: A metallic glass particle layer is applied to aluminum alloy armor and friction stir mixed into the surface in order to embed the material into the armor and to take advantage of its exceptional hardness. An advantage of the invention is that the hard material is an integral part of the armor, included within the body of the armor plate and not merely a surface coating. The advantage of the friction stir process is that it generates relatively low levels of heat and magnetic measurements show that the amorphous phase condition of the metallic glass is not deteriorated. Abstract: The present composition is a mixture of pozzolanic binder, recycled raw cellulosic materials (mineralized softwood chips and/or particles, hardwood chips and/or particles or a combination of the two and wood based construction waste), sand, ash and/or ground slag that when cured, forms a sound absorptive product and suitable for use in all climates and weather conditions. The primary use for the present composition is for highway sound barrier walls but the product can also be used in any application where a durable sound absorptive material is required, including rail, industrial, tunnel, residential, and existing wall retro-fit applications. The present composition can be used as an absorptive panel or cast monolithically with reinforced concrete which forms a structural and absorptive precast concrete panel.

  • Patent number: 7678423
Abstract: An elastomeric stamp is used to deposit material on a non-planar substrate. A vacuum mold is used to deform the elastomeric stamp and pressure is applied to transfer material from the stamp to the substrate. By decreasing the vacuum applied by the vacuum mold, the elasticity of the stamp may be used to apply this pressure. Pressure also may be applied by applying a force to the substrate and/or the stamp. The use of an elastomeric stamp allows for patterned layers to be deposited on a non-planar substrate with reduced chance of damage to the patterned layer.

Abstract: The invention provides a transparent composite material comprising a cured product of a three-dimensionally crosslinkable resin composition containing tabular inorganic substance having a number-average particle size of 10 to 300 nm and an aspect ratio of 10 to 300 dispersed therein, which material has a small coefficient of thermal expansion against surrounding temperature changes and can be suitably applicable as substrate for display devices, to thereby overcome disadvantages in substrate for display devices using conventional materials that differences in thermal shrinkage between a substrate and an transparent electrode cause cracks in the transparent electrode, resulting in increasing resistance and causing disconnection, and further can provide a display device with high durability.

Abstract: A turbine component formed from a niobium silicide-based composition is described. The component can be compositionally-graded through at least a portion of its structure. A turbine blade formed from a composition which includes a niobium silicide alloy is also described. The blade includes an airfoil; an airfoil tip region; a platform on which the airfoil is mounted; and a dovetail root attached to an underside of the platform. The niobium silicide alloy in at least one portion of the turbine blade is compositionally different from the niobium silicide alloy in another portion of the blade. Processes for fabricating a niobium silicide-based turbine article are also described, using laser cladding techniques. Repair methods are also set forth in the application.
