Abstract: A dosing device for the application of a coating mix (6) onto a running web, in particular a paper or paperboard web (1), which device comprises a rod (8) that is supported revolvingly over its entire length in a rod cradle (12), and a pressing device (13) acting on the rod cradle and producing a pressure of the rod onto the web (1) and onto the holding-on device (2, 17, 15) of the web, the rod (8) being provided with a wear resistant surface coating (15) with a hardness of about 10 to about 100 according to Shore A. The invention also relates to methods of using said rod, and to said revolving rod.

Abstract: The present invention provides a bar coating method comprising the step of: weighing and applying a coating liquid by the bar with bringing the bar into contact with a continuously running web and supplying the coating liquid to an feed side of the web with respect to the bar to form a coating liquid puddle, wherein a plurality of coating liquids are supplied to the feed side of the web with respect to the bar via a plurality of slits formed in a multistage form in an feed direction of the web in order to apply the coating liquid having a high viscosity or low wettability without problems.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods, processes, and systems for roll coating portions of a workpiece as well as to workpieces that have themselves been roll coated in accord with the invention. Under these methods and processes of the invention, one of a roller and/or the workpiece may be moved longitudinally to apply coating to a target surface of a workpiece. In some embodiments, a plurality of rollers may be used and supported by arms. Still further, in accord with the embodiments of the present invention, a dispensing member may be provided to fluidly connect the roller with a reservoir. In still other embodiments, the workpiece may be an implantable medical device and the coating may include a therapeutic.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making adhesive-backed labels. Glassine paper stock is unwound from a roll, coated with photo-cationic silicone and exposed to wavelength-controlled illumination to cure. Hot melt adhesive is applied over the silicone. Simultaneously, label stock is fed with the coated glassine paper to laminating rollers where the two are joined. Illumination is provided by a dichroic reflector.
