Of Adhesive Layers Patents (Class 428/214)
  • Publication number: 20140072759
Abstract: Systems and methods for protection of cosmetic surfaces on electronic devices and adhesive overflow prevention are provided. In particular, an assembly for protecting a cosmetic surface can include a heat activated adhesive, such as a heat active film adhesive (“HAF”), which can be used to secure a mesh to the cosmetic surface. In some embodiments, a protective layer having a center layer laminated between two layers of heat activated adhesive can be used to protect the cosmetic surface from scratches caused by the mesh. In some embodiments, one or more hot shoes can be used to cross-link the heat activated adhesives to the mesh and the cosmetic surface. Because the shape of a shoe can influence the flow of heat activated adhesives during cross-linking, different shoes can be selected in order to minimize overflow in certain locations in the assembly.

Abstract: Techniques or processes for producing assemblies using adhesives and substrate material, such as glass. In one embodiment, the assemblies may be for portable electronic devices. For example, a cover glass of a portable electronic device may have a first layer of a self-leveling adhesive, which may be adhesively coupled with the cover glass. A second layer of a second adhesive, which may be different than the self-leveling adhesive of the first layer, may be adhesively coupled with the first layer. An optical component may be adhesively coupled with the second layer, so as to secure the optical component. The first layer may be cured prior to securing the optical component, so that the optical component may be substantially isolated from stress effects of adhesive cure shrinkage of the first layer. Flexure, warpage or optical distortion of the optical component due to adhesive cure shrinkage may be substantially avoided.

Abstract: Provided are a die attach film, a semiconductor wafer, and a semiconductor packaging method. The die attach film can prevent generation of burrs or scattering of chips in a dicing process, and exhibits excellent expandability and pick-up characteristics in a die pressure-sensitive adhesive process. Further, the die attach film can prevent release, shifting, or deflection of a chip in a wire pressure-sensitive adhesive or molding process. Thus, it is possible to improve embeddability, inhibit warpage of a wafer or wiring substrate, and enhance productivity in a semiconductor packaging process.

Abstract: A composite substrate includes first and second substrate layers with a polyurethane foam layer there between. The foam layer preferably penetrates into the first and second substrate layers to form very strong bonds without the need for intervening adhesives. A component of the foam material formulation is natural oil. The resultant composite substrate thereby has excellent load-bearing properties. It can also be manufactured with lower cost capital equipment and a reduced impact on the environment relative to substrates using more conventional foam formulations and bonding processes.
