The warp bands or threads, which run in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tube, are formed by, if necessary elastically stretchable, glass threads and/or rubber threads and/or plastics threads.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2010Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Inventor: Johann Kübel

Patent number: 8679606Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a tubular from a composite material. The composite material includes fibers and epoxy resin that are formed into plies that are wound around an axis to form an annular member. The fibers in each ply are arranged axially and hoopwise. The axially oriented fibers are angled from about 10° up to about 20° with respect to an axis of the tubular. The hoopwise fibers are wound in the plies ranging from about 60° at the innermost ply up to about 90° in the outermost ply. The hoop fibers in the intermediate plies are arranged at increasing angles with distance away from the innermost layer. Transitioning the hoop fiber alignment in the successive plies better distributes hoop stress through the wall of the tubular thereby reducing stress concentrations on the innermost ply.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2010Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Vetco Gray Inc.Inventor: Karl A. Patent number: 8663744Abstract: A method improves bundle cohesiveness of a bundle of aramid yarns, and decreasing its friction coefficient. The method includes adding to the bundle of yarns 0.1-3.0 wt. %, based on the yarn weight, of a water-soluble or water-dispersible film forming binding agent, followed by treating the bundle of yarns with an oil having an intrinsic viscosity less than 100 mm2/s.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2005Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: Teijin Aramid B.V.Inventors: Stephanus Willemsen, Martinus Peters, Johannes Janssen

Patent number: 8663766Abstract: An elongated protective textile sleeve for protecting elongate members and methods of constructing a fabric substrate therefore are provided. The fabric substrate has a plurality of filamentary members woven, knitted or braided with one another. At least some of the filamentary members of the substrate extend to cut edges and are fabricated of a multi-component material that includes a core of a first polymeric material and an outer sheath of a second polymeric material. The outer sheath is heat-fusible and the inner core is heat-settable. The outer sheaths of the filamentary members are heat fused at least in the regions near the cut edges to keep the cut edges from fraying or the filamentary members from pulling out of the substrate. The core is heat set to form the desired shape of the protective sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2012Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Inventors: Timothy David Sellis, Matthew Ray Taulbee, William J. Patent number: 8652602Abstract: Auxetic structures exhibiting negative Poisson's ratios are disclosed including planar auxetic structures formed from x-axis and y-axis strands of selected waveforms. Portions of the auxetic structure referred to as unit cells comprise four joints formed by two adjacent x-axis strands overlapping two adjacent y-axis strands display symmetry about x and y axes. Each unit cell comprises four sub-unit cells formed from segments of ½ wavelength of the wave form. The planar auxetic structures may be formed into three-dimensional auxetic structures or cylindrical or spherical auxetic structures.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2008Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Inventor: William Jacob Spenner Dolla

Patent number: 8651850Abstract: The invention concerns a device for stiffening a flat component, a process for the production of a flat component, in particular a fiber composite component, and a fiber composite component. The device has a portion for producing a space for receiving a mold core for the transmission of a pressure for pressing the flat component and the device. It is characterised by means for positively lockingly and/or frictionally lockingly positioning the mold core in the space of the device. The process according to the invention includes the following steps: introducing the mold core into the portion of the device, positively lockingly and/or frictionally lockingly positioning the mold core in the portion of the device by means of the means, applying the device including the mold core to the non-hardened material layer or layers, pressing the material layers, and hardening the material layer or layers and joining the device to the material layer or layers.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2009Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Airbus Operations GmbHInventors: Torben Jacob, Ivar Wiik
