  • Patent number: 7955678
Abstract: A linerless pressure-sensitive label uses a heat-activated, non-tacky dead coat to cover a pressure sensitive substratum. Upon heat activation, the dead coat melts and admixes with an underlying pressure-sensitive adhesive substratum thereby resulting in an exposed pressure-sensitive adhesive. The label can then be applied to packaging or an end product by pressing the adhesive side of the label to the packaging or end product similar to a conventional pressure-sensitive label, however, no silicone-coated release liner is required. The elimination of the silicone-coated release liner results in lower material costs, lower shipping costs and less waste.

Abstract: A thermal interface material (A) transfers heat from a heat source (12), such as a microprocessor, to a heat sink (14) for maintaining the microprocessor at a safe operating temperature. The interface material includes thermally conductive filler particles dispersed in a phase change material. The phase change material softens and flows at the operating temperature of the heat source, thereby providing good thermal contact with uneven surfaces of the heat source and heat sink, without excessive exudation and loss of the interface material. The phase change material includes a polymer component, such as an elastomer, and a melting point component, which adjusts the softening temperature of the phase change material to the operating temperature of the heat source.

  • Patent number: 6651736
Abstract: A thermal conducting material with higher thermal conductivity for a given low viscosity is shown. Carbon fibers are added to the thermal grease to promote thermal conductivity. The carbon fibers are also not highly electrically conductive, reducing the danger of short circuiting due to misapplication of the thermal grease. Due to the high thermal conductivity of the carbon fibers, a lower loading percentage is needed to obtain significant gains in thermal conductivity. The low loading percentages in turn permit lower thermal grease viscosity, which allows the thermal grease to be spread very thin during application.

Abstract: A thermally-conductive interface for conductively cooling a heat-generating electronic component having an associated thermal dissipation member such as a heat sink. The interface is formed as a self-supporting layer of a thermally-conductive material which is form-stable at normal room temperature in a first phase and substantially conformable in a second phase to the interface surfaces of the electronic component and thermal dissipation member. The material has a transition temperature from the first phase to the second phase which is within the operating temperature range of the electronic component.

Abstract: A labeling system includes a label sheet with a liner and a face sheet secured thereto by a pressure-sensitive, fugitive adhesive. The face sheet is die-cut into a plurality of individual, preprinted labels. A method of manufacturing the label sheet includes the steps of pressure.mounting a face sheet on a liner with a pressure-sensitive, fugitive adhesive. A method of labeling merchandise displayed on shelves at a point-of-sale display includes the steps of mounting a label display strip on the shelf edge, preprinting information on the label sheets, separating the labels from the label sheets and inserting same in the label display strip.

  • Patent number: 6582789
Abstract: A surface protective film which can be used in the production of components associated with a liquid crystal display such as a polarizer to improve productivity and yields since no air bubbles are trapped when stuck to a substrate having unevenness in the surface and since the adhesion is low and a change of the adhesion with the passage of time is small and which can be highly transparent and improve inspectability by using a polyester film having little particles as a base material. It is treated by an antistatic agent or a release agent the surface of the surface protective film opposite to the surface in which the adhesive layer is formed, as a result, control of static electrification in case the surface protective film is peeled off and removal of the dust adhering to the surface can be made easy.

  • Patent number: 6496373
Abstract: A compressible and melt-flowable thermally conductive interface may be either tacky and pressure sensitive or be non-tacky and dry, and may include one of more thermally conductive fillers in one or more forms. The interface either melt flows or cures at low temperature, such as about 40-50° C. Certain embodiments provide a bond strength between a heat generating component, such as an integrated circuit, power transistor and the like, and a heat dissipating element, such as a heat sink or cold plate, sufficient to permit elimination of the need for mechanical fasteners.
