Abstract: A homogenization process for coiled tubing is provided. After being preheated in a sectional manner and quenched and tempered, laser-welded low-carbon alloy steel coiled tubing is spray cooled, and then is tempered to obtain homogeneous silvery coiled tubing. Microstructural uniformity of the silvery coiled tubing after the treatment is greatly improved in a welding seam region, a heat sensing region, and a tube wall, situations in which an outer surface of the coiled tubing is burnt and oxidized in the homogenization process are reduced, and a service life of the coiled tubing is prolonged. Moreover, homogeneous coiled tubing with different yield strengths and tensile strengths can be obtained by changing a temperature of the tempering, so that production costs are reduced.

Abstract: Redundantly constrained laminar structures as weak-link mechanisms and a novel method for manufacturing the redundantly constrained laminar structures as weak-link mechanisms are provided. The method for producing the redundantly constrained laminar structures as weak-link mechanisms is carried out by lithographic techniques. A designed pattern is repeatedly chemically etched with a mask to produce a plurality of individual identical units. The units are stacked together to form the laminar structure and are secured together with fasteners. A high quality adhesive can be applied to the sides of the laminar structure to provide the mechanism equivalent to a single piece mechanism. The redundantly constrained laminar structures as weak-link mechanisms of the invention include a stack of a plurality of thin material structures.

  • Patent number: 6379014
Abstract: A graded anti-reflective coating (ARC) with one or more layers has a bottom layer that is highly absorbing at the lithographic wavelength, and one or more layers between the substrate and the resist layer having inhomogeneous optical constants. The refractive indices are matched across layer interfaces, and the optical constants vary smoothly through the layer thicknesses. In each layer the extinction coefficient and the refractive index have independently selectable values and gradients. This ARC structure provides almost total absorption in the bottom layer and near-zero reflection at the resist interface and all other intermediate interfaces. Layers are preferably of inorganic materials, typically SiOxNy. Because of its highly absorbing bottom layer, an ARC according to an embodiment of the present invention works effectively over diverse substrate materials for a variety of lithographic wavelengths. It provides great latitude of manufacturing tolerances for thicknesses and optical constants.
