A kit for use by rescue workers includes, in addition to the blanket, gloves for handling the blanket after use, a bio-hazard bag in which the used blanket is placed, and a carrying case for the blanket, gloves, and bio-hazard bag.

Methods of making the article and methods of use of the article to resist impact are provided.     Abstract: A reactive armor includes an orderly stack of multiple leaves of explosive, interleaved with non-explosive compressible foam. The stack is enclosed between armor plates. The armor plates are moveable between a first position in which the stack is compressed and a second position in which the stack is not compressed. An igniter is in electrical communication with the leaves of explosive. Each of the multiple leaves of explosive has a thickness below the “detonation failure thickness” of the explosive. In the compressed state, the compressible foam is compressed and the explosive leaves are sufficiently close to support detonation. In the uncompressed state the compressible foam is expanded and the explosive leaves are not sufficiently close to support detonation, and the use of highly plasticized explosives prevents other types of explosion. The invention provides for switching the reactive armor between an explosive state and a non-explosive state.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a stabproof and bulletproof panel. The stabproof and bulletproof panel includes a bulletproof panel 40 and a plurality of stabproof panels 60. The bulletproof panel 40 is comprised of a front plate 45, a plurality of high density polyethylene films 44 stacked with one on top of another for dispersing impact energy, and a rear plate 46 formed by sewing together a plurality of aromatic polyamide woven fabrics for minimizing frictional heat and deformation. The front plate 45 consists of a plurality of aromatic polyamide woven fabrics 41, a felt 50 formed by forcibly inserting thin aromatic polyamide fibers or high density polyethylene fibers 52 and a shock-absorbing member 51 into a scrim woven in the form of a net using aromatic polyamide fibers or high density polyethylene yarn, and a plurality of aromatic polyamide woven fabrics 43. The stabproof panels 60 are brought into tight contact with the front surface of the bulletproof panel 40.

    Abstract: A lightweight, flexible, removable, bullet-resistant protective shield placed easily on the lateral side of a vehicle door which includes a magnetic backing covered by a bullet-resistant mesh material. It lacks any further mounting apparatus and can be manually placed on either lateral, exterior sides of that portion of a vehicle that encloses the front or rear seat compartments. The two-layer, protective shield can be easily installed, removed and transferred from one vehicle door to another. The bullet-resistant exterior vehicle body protector is of such a dimension as to cover the portion of the vehicle below the side windows and between the front and rear quarter panels longitudinally.

    Abstract: A combined waterproofing sheet and protection course membrane has a water resistant film and a protective layer. The protective layer protects the film from being punctured and otherwise compromised. An adhesive layer, with a free adhesive side for adhesion to a foundation, is adhered to the film, so that the membrane can be applied to a subterranean foundation in a single step. While the foundation is being back filled, the protective layer keeps the water resistant film intact thereby maintaining the water resistant capabilities of the membrane.

    Abstract: A protective yarn having a single fiberglass core fiber and one or more cover members is disclosed. At least one of the cover members are fibers selected from the group consisting of aramid fiber, ultrahigh molecular weight polyolefin fiber, polyester, nylon and polyacrylic fibers. To prevent glass fragment breakout, the cover members are wrapped, wound or twisted around the core in a manner which permits successive layers to be wrapped, wound or twisted around the core in an opposite direction from the cover member immediately below. In a preferred embodiment, one of the cover members is a substantially non-slippery fiber. The non-slippery fiber is selected from the group consisting of polyester, nylon and cotton. The construction and composition of the invented protective yarn provides a low cost component for making protective gloves and other protective garments capable of providing a user substantial cut protection while affording the user significant freedom of movement.

A plurality of discs in an imbricated pattern are backed by alternating layers of high tensile strength ballistic material. The alternating nature of the layout of these ballistic materials combined with the discs tends to deform and turn striking fragmentation projectiles. Deformation of the fragments causes them to be easier to slow and stop. Turning the fragments allows a greater area of the armor material to engage the fragments.

The resulting composite material is inexpensive, lightweight with a density of typically 3 to 4.5 grams/cubic centimeter, and very hard and very tough to serve as, among other applications, lightweight armor.
