  • Patent number: 7818913
Abstract: An ice fishing tip-up system includes a rod, a fishing line, a bobber stop coupled to the fishing line, and a tip-up device. The tip-up device includes a base, an arm extending from the base, a lever supporting a line-engaging end having a set slot through which the line will pass, but not the bobber stop, and a flag attached through a resilient wire to the base. Distal to the line-engaging end is a trip end. The resilient wire applies a spring force to the trip end of the lever, the effect of which is variable depending upon the distance between the wire point of contact of to lever and the lever pivot point. A base serves to support the lever, insulate the ice hole to prevent the hole from freezing shut, and provides a selectively opened slot for separating the base from fishing line.

  • Patent number: 7739827
Abstract: A holder for a rod and reel combination as may be used for ice fishing is disclosed. The holder has an elongated arm pivotally supported on a wall, pail or fixture mounting bracket for adjustable movement in a horizontal plane; and a tubular sleeve is pivotally attached to the arm for removably receiving and holding a rod and its reel in such an orientation that the rod points downwardly for selective positioning over an ice fishing hole. An alarm finger movable between a restrained or cocked position and a tripped position for actuating an audible alarm is attached to the arm. A fishing line engagement member is operatively associated with the alarm finger in such a way that when a fish strikes and pulls the line, the alarm finger is released from its cocked position and moves to its tripped position to actuate the alarm.

  • Publication number: 20100139149
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fish strike signal that can selectively be placed in a storage position, a ready position or a deployed position. The signal has a main body with a storage ledge, a retainer and a pocket. A trigger is provided having a notch for engaging a segment of fishing line and having a kick-out post for deploying a signal. The kick-out post can be held with a pocket in the ready position. Rotation of the trigger caused by a strike forces the post from the pocket and causes the wire of the signal to clear a retainer on the side of the main body. A tension assembly is provided for adjusting the amount of force that is required to rotate the trigger. The post and a ledge holds the signal in place and the tensioner can be used to lock the signal in the storage position.

Abstract: Particular aspects provide novel strike indicators attachable to fishing lines, that are reversibly disengagable therefrom and thereafter slidably along the line. Particular embodiments comprise: a buoyant main body having an axial channel with corresponding end surface openings; an retention member seat (e.g., groove, ridge, etc.) running around the main body surface; and at least one line retention member receivable and retainable by the seat, and operative with the seat to retain a line passing therebetween at two points. The retention member is displaceable from the seat by sufficient line tension, thereby disengaging the slidable strike indicator. Particular embodiments comprise two strike indicator stop members attachable at user-selectable line positions, and operative to delimit a slidable range of a disengaged slidable strike indicator. Abstract: A hook-setting device, including a flange that is fixed and generally transverse to a fishing line or leader, is adapted to resist the force of a fish strike on a hook or fly and to also indicate a strike by its movement in the water. The flange preferably floats at or near the top of the water, in a partially-submerged position, with a generally concave front surface facing the hook or fly. The front surface forms an open cup-shape that partially or completely fills with water, thereby providing resistance to the flange being pulled through the water and thereby setting the hook/fly in the fish's mouth. Abstract: An intelligent fishing tackle comprises a fishing line, a sinker module, a microprocessor system module and a hook module, in which the sinker module is connected on the fishing line and includes a camera module used for capturing a underwater image, the microprocessor system module judges a fishing object according to the underwater image and determines whether a control signal is generated, and the hook module is connected on the fishing line and switched to a fishing processing state according to the control signal. Whether to capture the fishing object can be judged directly under the water or the water image is transmitted to the shore for a rodster to decide whether to capture the fishing object.

  • Patent number: 7355147
Abstract: A floating ice removal device with a disk shaped upper cover, a disk shaped lower cover and a heat emitting cup. An electric circuit board is mounted on an inner bottom of the lower cover, and a helical heat emitting wire is mounted on the inner top surface of the upper cover in a contact mode, and the cup having a heat emitting source is mounted on the outer bottom surface of the lower cover. An electric power line is extended in from the bottom of the heat emitting cup to connect the circuit board to supply electric power, so that the helical heat emitting wire keeps the surface temperature of the upper cover above 5 degrees Celsius, so that the surface of the entire ice removal will not be covered by snow or ice, while the heat emitting cup can emit heat under the water for removing ice.

  • Patent number: 7318295
Abstract: The invention is a fishing pole with an integrated line tension measuring device. Measured line tension is displayed in quantitative units, pounds or kilograms. A line tension warning system activates when the sensed line tension exceeds a threshold set by the fisherman. The line tension measuring device does not touch the fishing line so the fishing pole with integrated line tension measuring device fishes and operates like a normal fishing pole. The line tension measuring device may be integrated into the fishing reel seat which, in turn, is an integral part of the fishing pole.
