    Abstract: Print media, when rolled tightly often produces a high degree of curl when removed from a roll form. The stiffer the media, the more likely the tenancy to curl. On the other hand, media that is too thin will be too floppy for conventional handling. Incorporating some stiffening strands running along the axis of a roll of paper substrate allow the media to be roll relatively tightly but give the media a tendency to readily de-curl once it is unrolled. These strands ideally have a pitch of approximately 200 microns. The ribs result in material of greater stiffness across the width of the media than along the length and maintain adequate stiffness for handling and viewing of the printed media.

    Abstract: An image forming assembly and method utilizes a laminate processing sheet. The laminate processing sheet is applied on an emulsion side of an exposed photosensitive film which includes sprocket holes along opposing edges. In a first feature of the present invention, a width of the laminate processing sheet is confined to an image area between the opposing sprocket holes, so as to reduce or eliminate the possibility of processing marks in or around an area of the opposing sprocket holes In a further feature of the present invention, an absorbing sheet can be applied to the backside of the photosensitive film, to absorb any excess processing or wetting solution that is applied to the photosensitive film. This also aids in reducing or eliminating unwanted processing marks at the sprocket holes or an area in the vicinity of the sprocket holes.

The photosensitive material undergoes color development, desilvering, and washing and/or stabilization within a processing container, with no requirement to be separated from its housing container for photographing.     Abstract: An instant photographic method uses a photosensitive member in the form of a roll, of a length to receive a plurality of exposures, and an image-receiving member in the form of either a roll or a sheet. The photosensitive member is cut off to the length of a single frame of film after the exposure of its leading end. Before or after cutting off the member or members, the exposed leading end of the photosensitive member and the image-receiving member are superposed. Between the superposed members a processing liquid is distributed and spread in a uniform layer for diffusion transfer processing. During the processing, negative and positive images are produced simultaneously on the photosensitive and image-receiving members, respectively, according to the latent image previously created on the photosensitive member by exposure.

    Abstract: An elongated filmstrip is provided having two superposed sheets of photographic material helically wound in a cartridge. Typically, one of the sheets is a photosensitive image receiver and the other is a coated processing web. The lateral edges of the filmstrip are sealed to inhibit leakage of processing composition which is spread between the sheets during image development. The sheet which is on the outside of each roll convolution will have a longer path length than the inner sheet, and has sufficient elasticity to accommodate the path length difference. The elastic sheet is provided with a strippable, relatively non-elastic support before being transported through the coating machinery. The sheet, together with its coating and non-elastic support is then adhered to the other sheet of the filmstrip and the support then removed.

    Abstract: An apparatus and methods for producing a transmission barrier for inhibiting propagation of light into still unimaged transparent portions of microfiche recording system intermediate film strips by light-piping action are described. The barrier serves to optically isolate the subsequently-to-be-imaged still unexposed portion of the film strip in a dispensing film head from the illumination used to transfer the previously developed image on the exposed portion of the strip onto a permanent recording medium, such as a microfiche film card. In one exemplary form of the invention, the barrier regions are photographically produced dark bands or lines between the longitudinally spaced areas of the film strip to be imaged. These bands or lines are preferably created as latent images during the initial exposure of the intermediate film and subsequently developed at the same time as the record image.

    Abstract: A photographic film assemblage including an elongate composite film structure of the self-developing or instant type for use in conventional still type cameras of the non-self-developing or non-instant type. The composite film structure includes first and second sheets which are coiled within a cylindrical cassette such that only the first sheet is uncoiled and photographically exposed within such camera. A rupturable container of processing liquid is carried by one of the sheets. After the first sheet has been exposed, it is recoiled into the cassette and the latter is then removed from the camera and placed in a processor. The processor removes the first and second sheets from the cassette in a sequence which eventually locates the second sheet in engagement with the first sheet such that the former functions to aid the spreading of the processing liquid between the two sheets as they move between a pair of rollers to initiate the formation of a visible image within the composite film structure.
