  • Patent number: 9395083
Abstract: An ignition device that ignites a mixture including an oxidizer and fuel includes a heating element (1) that has a heat generation region (1a) generating formerly heat to a temperature above the ignition temperature of the mixture (Y) at a tip projected downward from an installation unit (100), a fuel holding unit (2) that encloses the heat generation region (1a), in which the heat generation region (1a) is installed inside thereof and has a through hole (2a) opened to an upper part thereof, and a surrounding wall (3) that forms a space (R) connected to the upper part of the through hole (2a) and has a flame ejection opening (3a) opened from the space (R) to the outside. According to the ignition device, an ignitability of the ignition device can be improved.

  • Patent number: 7993130
Abstract: Method of combustion with a gas burner having a burner head at one end of an inner gas pipe surrounded by an outer protective pipe, wherein gases from the burner head flow inside the inner pipe and inside the outer pipe and thereafter flow into an exhaust channel. The inner pipe terminates short of the burner head; a sleeve downstream of the burner head, is inserted into and/or placed concentrically with the inner pipe so that the sleeve orifice is located within the inner pipe; a gap is provided between the opening of the inner pipe and the sleeve. The gap is sized such that the mixture of fuel and combustion air from the burner head and recycled exhaust gases passing through the gap will be mixed in quantities at which the temperature of combustion will be lower than the temperature in which NOx is formed.

  • Patent number: 4983364
Abstract: An optimized thermal/catalytic combuster for the efficient oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in air. As an example, the invention is directly applicable to remedial action for clean-up of ground sites contaminated by spills or leaks of gasoline, organic paint solvents and the like, by a process known as air extraction. A thermal combuster and a catalytic oxidizer are interconnected by piping and control valves so that when one such element operates, the other is quiescent, depending on the concentration of combustible vapors in the extracted air. A dilution air valve, a heat exchanger, an electric heater, or a connection to a supplemental supply of clean-burning fuel, or all these devices, may be provided to ensure efficient operation. In an alternative embodiment, an internal combustion engine may be used in place of the thermal combuster. The engine can be used to supply power for other uses within the system or for external use.

  • Patent number: 4259058
Abstract: A burner apparatus is specially designed for vaporized fuels such as alcohol vapor for use by campers, aboard small boats, in vans, and the like. Extremely efficient combustion is achieved by an annular air/fuel mixer plate with a plurality of circular openings facing upwardly positioned above an annular vapor generator member having an annular cavity with fuel outlet ports passing through the top wall of the cavity in positions spaced vertically below and in axial alignment with the circular openings in the air/fuel mixer plate, respectively. A liquid fuel line communicates with the interior portion of the cavity for introducing liquid fuel therein and once combustion has started, the fuel is vaporized to pass out the fuel openings.
