Abstract: An electrical heating coal material decomposition apparatus includes a closed kiln body with a feed inlet, a discharge outlet, and an electrical heating device arranged in the kiln body. A propulsion and decomposition path of coal material is formed between the electrical heating device and the inner wall of the kiln body. A coal decomposition gas collecting pipe communicates with the propulsion and decomposition path of coal material, and is connected with a gas dust-trapping and liquefying device arranged outside the kiln. The electrical heating device transfers heat to the pulverized coal inside the propulsion and decomposition path of coal material by conduction and irradiation. The pulverized coal absorbs sufficient heat and decomposes into fuel gas, tar gas and coal. The fuel gas and tar gas enters the gas dust-trapping and liquefying mechanism through the decomposed gas collecting tube, where they are collected, dust-trapped, separated and liquefied under pressure.

  • Patent number: 4683664
Abstract: Apparatus for the drying of ferrous or non-ferrous turnings or scrap comprises a vertical axis drier (1) in which a drum (2) which encloses a transporter (3) for the turnings in question is mounted transversely. The turnings are heated indirectly via the drum (2) to evaporate their liquid content, while a protective atmosphere is maintained within the drum to prevent oxidation of the material. The vapors leaving the drum (2) are burnt in the drier (1) to heat the material and render the operation of the apparatus self-sufficient. As an alternative the vapors can be treated to recover their oil content, e.g. by distillation.

  • Patent number: 4564505
Abstract: A process and apparatus for simultaneous feedstock material granulation and classification are provided which utilize applied heat to cause feedstock material to agglomerate, forming a uniformly sized granular product. The feedstock is fed onto a tilted rotating granulator-classifier, forming a moving bed of feedstock. Hot streams of combustion products or other heated gases are applied to a portion of the granulator-classifier and heat is thus percolated through the moving bed of feedstock. The feedstock is heated to a point wherein it begins to soften, or sinter. As the heated particles cascade downward over the granulator-classifier, the smaller particles adhere to the larger particles forming hardened, uniform granules which spill out of the granulator-classifier when they reach a desired size. The granulator-classifier may be provided with annular tiers which cause an increased efficiency in the uniform sizing of the granules as well as the agglomeration process.

  • Patent number: 4541346

Within this arrangement it can be ensured that the hot gases being used to treat the solid materials can be passed through the solid material as it is being tumbled in the reactor with the reactor being capable of accepting a large range of different materials with a variation of particle and lump size. The reactor in its preferred exemplary form is used for starved air incineration of waste materials, the gas supply means being used to supply gas in an amount insufficient to complete the reaction in the drum such that combustible gases leave the outlet end for use in the burner 10 used to provide the hot gases to the reactor drum.

Abstract: An indirectly heated rotary calciner or dryer for high temperature operation, whereby it is important to reduce cylinder stress to achieve a reasonable life expectancy of the heated section of a cylinder even when the most exotic of metal alloys is used for its construction. The present invention is able to reduce the stress in the heated section of an indirectly heated rotary calciner or dryer cylinder by the use of either long extensions beyond the cylinder's riding ring supports or by shorter, weighted extensions beyond said riding ring supports, which act as moment arms and thus permit a calciner to be operated at substantially higher temperatures than would be the case had the invention not been employed, while still achieving good life expectancy.
