Frangible Or Fusible Safety Relief Or Shutdown Means Patents (Class 432/35)
  • Patent number: 9310724
Abstract: An image heating unit is detachably mountable to an image forming apparatus. The image heating unit includes: first and second rotatable members configured to feed a recording material in an image heating process; a casing enclosing the first and second rotatable member and provided with an opening configured to permit passage of the recording material; a movable member movable relative to the opening between a first position taken when the image heating process is carried out and a second position in which a jam clearance operation is operable through the opening and in which a test finger is prevented from entering through the opening into the casing; and a locking mechanism configured to lock the movable member at the second position.

  • Patent number: 4731016
Abstract: A releasable and gas tight sealing apparatus for construction panels of a paint baking oven which relieves the buildup of gas pressure within the oven in the event of an explosion. The apparatus has tongue and groove members and a compressible cord rope received in the groove members. In assembly and during normal use of the oven, the tongue is received in the groove and bears on and compresses the cord rope to provide a gas tight seal. In the event of an explosion, the construction panels are forced outwardly which disengages the tongue and groove members and relieves the buildup of gas pressure in the oven.

  • Patent number: 4654003
Abstract: A high-temperature, rapid-cycle pin oven for the curing of coatings on hollow container components, includes an oven unit (2) whose housing (14) is divided into three compartments interconnected by internal explosion relief panels (136,142,144). One of the compartments (36), designed for a normal working pressure in the range 1 to 1.01 atmosphere, has a light explosion-relief panel (132) which provides primary pressure relief to atmosphere while ensuring that if the internal panels blow out, the entire interior is vented to atmosphere. This panel comprises a light casing (202) with thin tinplate bursting diaphragms (210) in the bottom, overlaid by a light, absorbent mattress (220), and a light top cover (222) which can blow out. A perforated hot air delivery screen (38) forms one wall of the narrow working chamber (34) and comprises a number of plates removably and replaceably fastened to a frame (72) fixed in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4519778
Abstract: The safety outflow device is provided in an end wall of a heatable godet and may be of a fusible type or pressure responsive type. The fusible safety device has fusible material which fills an outflow passage in a hermetic manner so that upon the occurrence of an excess temperature, the fusible material melts and permits exhaust of the vaporized medium. The pressure responsive safety device employs a burstable disc which bursts at a pressure corresponding to an overheated temperature so as to exhaust the heated medium. The safety devices serve as additional protection independently of manual and electrical means which may be provided.

  • Patent number: 4367037
Abstract: A temperature controller for photographic heat fixing unit which may be used in an electrophotographic copying apparatus includes a main temperature for detecting the temperature of a heater or heaters in the fixing unit and an auxiliary temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of a marginal member spaced from the heater or of a record sheet. The temperature level of the fixing unit is controlled in accordance with outputs from the both temperature sensors.

  • Patent number: 4349269
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine comprises at least one paper supply unit from which a copying is automatically supplied towards a processing station, a manual feed mouth through which a copying paper is manually inserted into the machine, an electrophotographic processing unit for forming thermally fusible powder image on the copying paper, and a heat-fixing device for fusing and fixing the powder image on the copying paper. This machine is provided with a manual paper feed inhibiting device operable in such a manner the manual feed of the copying paper through the manual feed mouth is permitted only when and after the heat fixing device has attained the predetermined high temperature.

  • Patent number: 4348102
Abstract: An electrographic apparatus by which powder images corresponding to electrostatic images can be formed on receiving material and fixed onto the receiving material by heat and contact is provided with a control system which regulates the quantity of receiving material transported to the fixing device per unit of time so as to keep the heat content of heated surface elements of the fixing device suited for the heat capacity of the receiving material even when receiving materials of different weights are used. The control system can also make the formation of either electrostatic or powder images dependent upon the existance of heat content in the fixing device suited for the heat capacity of the receiving material.

  • Patent number: 4118178
Abstract: A fusing apparatus for an electrophotographic copying machine in which heat fusible developing material is deposited in image-wise configuration on a sheet of paper and fixed thereto by the application of heat. The fusing apparatus has a conveyor system for conveying the sheet of paper past a source of heat for fusing the developing material into the paper. The fusing apparatus includes a secondary driving means to maintain operation of the conveying system in the event of any failure of the normal source of driving power to the conveying system so that the conveying system does not stop with the sheet of paper still adjacent the source of heat, which would allow the sheet of paper to catch fire. The secondary driving means includes stored energy means which becomes automatically operable to maintain operation of the conveying system for a period of time sufficient to eject the copy sheet from the fusing apparatus in the event of an electrical power failure in the copying machine.
