Patent number: 4902226Abstract: A portable dental delivery system is provided which is composed of a plurality of individual module sections. The portable delivery system provides all basic tools and accessories which are necessary for a dentist to perform all types of dental work which may be required by patients. The dental delivery system includes a quiet running, pressurized clean air supply system for operating the various tools and accessories utilized by the dentist. A hermetically enclosed refrigeration compressor unit is modified to provide an adequate supply of pressurized air in an extremely quiet manner. The temperature of the compressor unit is maintained at a safe level by an oil cooling system. A pump draws oil from the base of the compressor unit, passes it through a radiator which is additionally cooled by an axial fan. The oil is returned to the compressor unit at the top of the housing at a location which will cause the oil to impinge directly upon the cylinder head of the compressor.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Inventors: Raymond D. Patent number: 4544355Abstract: An arrangement for imposing pressure on cleaning media and/or lubricants which are contained as maintenance media in the movable components of medical, particularly dental handpieces, wherein the maintenance medium is adapted to be placed under pressure by a pressure drive acting through an outlet opening of a housing which contains a motion drive for the movable handpiece components, the last mentioned being brought into connection with the outlet opening through an inlet opening in the handpiece. During this pressurization of the maintenance medium, the movable components of the handpiece are placeable into movement through the motion drive of the housing in such a manner, whereby engaging means of the motion drive which are accessible through the outlet opening of the housing can be brought into engagement with cooperating engaging means of the movable components of the handpiece which are accessible through the inlet opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1984Date of Patent: October 1, 1985Assignee: Kaltenbach & Voigt GmbH & Co.Inventors: Eugen Eibofner, Ernst Strohmaier

Patent number: 4486175Abstract: A dental appliance has an elongated hollow tube within the interior of which is mounted for rotation an elongated drive shaft. One end of the tube is coupled to a handle as is the drive shaft which is driven from the handle in rotation. A head joined to the other end of the tube defines an interior cavity within which a hub is mounted for rotation about an axis disposed at an angle with respect to the drive shaft. Motion is translated from the drive shaft to the hub. An opening in the head enables the hub to be accessed through the opening. Included in the hub is a barrel section for securing a variety of dental attachments thereto. A seal is created between the opening from the cavity and the hub in order to prevent fluid flow therethrough. Lubricant is introduced within the tube and the drive shaft actuates an augar or the equivalent for propelling the lubricant into the motion translator.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1982Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: Teledyne Industries, Inc.Inventors: Leo Fisher, Atilla Weiser

Patent number: 4486174Abstract: An arrangement for the dispensing of cleaning and/or lubricating media, which can be placed under pressure in a receptacle, as maintenance media to movable elements containing medical, and particularly dental handpieces. The maintenance medium is forced by means of a pressure drive out of a dispensing orifice of the receptacle through an inlet opening of the handpiece which is attached to the receptacle at the dispensing orifice and whereby, during the forcing of the maintenance medium into the movable elements of the handpiece, they are placeable into motion through a motion drive. The maintenance medium can be formed by liquid cleaning and/or lubricating media, for instance, such as oil.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1982Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: Kaltenbach & Voight GmbH & Co.Inventors: Eugen Eibofner, Ernst Strohmaier

Patent number: 4359085Abstract: In the exemplary embodiment, two machines are arranged in a common cabinet-like housing insulated toward the exterior from sound conducted through solids and airborne sound. For the purpose of fresh air supply to the machines, there are provided common fresh air channels connected via an inlet port with the exterior air. In order to discharge the exhaust air, separately arranged exhaust air chambers and/or exhaust air channels are provided which discharge into the open air via a common outlet port, disposed at a location remote from the inlet port. The fresh air channels and the exhaust air channels are so designed and arranged that the air is deflected many times during its flow through the housing. The installation particularly serves the purpose of housing dental vacuum generating and compressed air generating electric machines.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1979Date of Patent: November 16, 1982Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Lothar Mueller
