  • Patent number: 6379147
Abstract: A dental impression tray assembly includes an impression tray as well as a liner. The liner is adapted to cover holes in the impression tray in order to prevent leakage of impression material through the holes during a dental procedure. Preferably, the liner is removably connected to the tray so that the practitioner has the option of using the tray with or without the liner.

  • Patent number: 6149426
Abstract: An apparatus and associated method for accurately producing an accurate impression of a patient's teeth. The apparatus includes an improved impression tray assembly that more accurately models the teeth. The impression tray includes a segment of curable material having a top edge, a bottom edge, a face surface and a rear surface, wherein the face surface and the rear surface extend between the top edge and the bottom edge. The impression tray also includes a base plate having a peripheral edge and a groove disposed in the base plate proximate a section of the peripheral edge. The groove is adapted to receive the bottom edge of segment of curable material, thereby supporting the segment of curable material as a vertical wall. The combination of the base plate and the vertical wall of curable material produces an impression tray. The impression tray is filled with impression material and placed in the mouth.

  • Patent number: 6099305
Abstract: A device for the production of a dental working model for preparation of a prosthetic work comprises a body member having a blind arcuated cavity bounded by facing inner and outer cavity walls, for receiving semi-liquid model material. The blind end of the arcuate cavity is closed by a sacrificial membrane which is integral with the body member. The membrane is of sufficient thickness to contain the semi-liquid model material within the arcuate cavity and of sufficient thinness to be easily removed, for example, by grinding.

  • Patent number: 5772432
Abstract: A dental impression tray has a receptacle for receiving a quantity of dental impression material, and the receptacle is coated with an adhesive for enhancing the bond between the impression material and the tray. The adhesive is applied to the tray body at least sixteen hours before the impression material is placed in the receptacle. Advance coating of the adhesive onto the tray body provides a higher bond strength between the impression material and the tray than would otherwise be observed. Precoating of the tray by the manufacturer represents a time savings for the dental practitioner and also reduces the amount of volatilized solvent emitted from the adhesive that might otherwise be emitted in the dental office.

  • Patent number: 5580244
Abstract: An improved dental impression tray fabricated with vertical rests that anchor onto predetermined areas of the mouth to allow stabilization of tray while impression material sets. This disclosure also provides for a venting of selected teeth to the outside air to eliminate damaging force of vacuum on freshly cured material when tray is lifted. More specifically, the practitioner fills the impression tray with moldable material and seats fully into the mouth. Venting pins are immediately fitted through impression tray and impression material and seated onto the occlusal surfaces of the teeth. After the impression material has set, venting pins are removed. The impression tray is then lifted vertically and removed.

  • Patent number: 4484890
Abstract: An impression tray of rigid massive material is disclosed. The tray forms a generally U-shaped channel for impression paste, and it is split along the smooth bottom of the channel into two releasably connectible sections. Paste retention grooves are formed in the sidewalls of the channel, and these grooves are undercut to retain the paste in the channel when the tray sections are connected. A screw assembly facilitates release of the sections and consequent release and nondestructive removal of the cured dental paste impression. A handle is also formed as an integral extension of the outer section of the tray.
