  • Patent number: 11559355
Abstract: A virtual or augmented reality system is disclosed which is capable of both (i) evaluating prospective implantable neurostimulator patient candidates, and (ii) determining optimal stimulation settings for already-implanted neurostimulation patients. Physiological sensors are included with the system to provide objective measurements relevant to a patient's symptoms, such as pain in a Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) system. Such objective measurements are determined during the presentation of various virtual or augmented environments, and can be useful to determining which patients are suitable candidates to consider for implantation. Stimulation settings for already-implanted patients may be adjusted while presenting a virtual or augmented environment to the patient, with objective measurements being determined for each stimulation setting. Such objective measurements can then be used to determine optimal stimulation settings for the patient.

  • Patent number: 11537589
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for enabling a sensor device to receive and transmit updates effectively via one or more rules applied to a plurality of event records for transmission by an event management server. In one exemplary embodiment, the event management server manages the plurality of event records (such as records of deletions or updates to a user's profile or goals), via an event suppression application. The event suppression application ensures that event records are not redundantly provided to the sensor device and/or irrelevant records (such as those which no longer contain the most up-to-date information) are not provided to the sensor device. Hence, only the most relevant event records are provided and that those which are not relevant are ignored (not transmitted). In this manner, the sensor device may operate more efficiently to receive only the most relevant transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11302338
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for responding to requests received from users in a healthcare facility, and for generating alerts based upon criticality detected in received verbal utterances. A personal assistant device (PAD) may receive a verbal request for information. The identity of the requestor may be verified and a response to the request may be received by the PAD. In some cases, prior to audibly outputting the response, it may be determined whether the response contains protected health information (PHI). Upon determining that the response contains PHI, the presence of persons other than the patient in proximity to the PAD and/or security of the location of the PAD may be evaluated prior to audibly outputting the response. Additionally, alerts having a heightened criticality may be generated when a received verbal utterance is determined to have a heightened criticality.

  • Patent number: 11302206
Abstract: Social skills can be taught using a customized interactive model. As part of this model, an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) individual and an influencer are involved in creating customized content that will later be presented to the individual as part of an interactive game or other learning environment. This customized content includes both visual and audio content of the individual and the influencer and other graphical content selected and/or customized by the individual. One problem faced when teaching individuals is that they do not instantaneously connect noises with sources or relate words they hear with the speaker. By involving the individual in the creation of the customized content, the likelihood that the individual will make such connections can be increased since the individual is more likely to recognize content that he or she created in conjunction with an influencer.

  • Patent number: 11240560
Abstract: Implementations relate to an automated assistant that provides and manages output from one or more elements of output hardware of a computing device. The automated assistant manages dynamic adjustment of access permissions to the computing device according to, for example, a detected presence of one or more users. An active-user queue can be established each time a unique user enters a viewing window of a camera of the computing device when, up to that point, no user was considered active. Multiple image frames can be captured via the camera and processed to determine whether an initial user remains in the viewing window and/or whether another user has entered the viewing window. The initial user can be considered active as long as they are exclusively detected in the viewing window. Restricted content associated with the user may be rendered by the computing device whilst the user is active.

Abstract: A method is implemented by a computing device for helping a particular user use a user interface (UI). Electroencephalography (EEG) data is obtained that indicates brain activity of a particular user during a period in which that user views the UI and/or interprets help information that describes how to use the UI. Based on the EEG data, the computing device selects, from among multiple predefined cognitive states, the one or more cognitive states that characterize the particular user during the period. The computing device assists the particular user to use the UI by customizing the help information for the particular user based on the one or more selected cognitive states. Abstract: A mechanism by which a secure, privacy preserving query system may be constructed from blockchain technology is disclosed. This system operates on the local differential privacy model through random responses using a private weighted coin protocol. The system specified allows for the ejection of malicious and/or non-interactive participants, minimizes blockchain storage size, and provides a mechanism for forward secrecy. The system specification uses a distributed random beacon to provide a public source of randomness. This randomness is utilized to perform random subset selection from a publicly known list of participating entities. The system uses a homomorphic self-tallying voting protocol under homomorphic encryption to further ensure participant privacy.
