    Abstract: An electrical connector (100) includes an insulative housing (1) for receiving a number of contacts (2), and a metal shield (3) enclosing the insulative housing (1). The insulative housing has a rear portion (11) and a pair of arms (12, 17) integrally extending from lateral sides of the rear portion with a receiving space (18) formed therebetween. The rear portion comprises a pair of upper and lower tongue plates (13, 14) extending forwardly into the receiving space with a mating slot (15) formed therebetween. Each contact (2) has a contact portion (2211) extending into the mating slot for electrically connecting with a plug. The metal shield (3) includes a top wall, an opposite bottom wall and a pair of side walls substantially engaging with the pair of arms, wherein the top and bottom walls restrict upper and lower positions of the receiving space (18), respectively.

The connection end is then inserted into a hole formed in the circuit board and soldered onto the ground pattern of the circuit board. Static electricity, with which the jack is charged, is discharged from the grounding wire to the ground pattern.

The vertical shield extension and the inner shield extension form a cross structure protruding downwards beyond the PCB, in which the cross structure defines four shielded quadrants each for housing contact tails of a tip and ring pair protruding downwards beyond the PCB. Shielding contact tails from each other with the extensions of the cross structure provides enhanced shielding and reduces crosstalk.

A housing is provided having a first region retaining a conductive element and a second region retaining a further conductive element. The conductive elements are resiliently deflectable for compression engaged by and between the two devices. A plate is positioned between the first region and the second region and includes a contact region to engage with an electrical connection point for a ground circuit of the first device and a contact region to engage with an electrical connection point of a ground circuit of the second device to also be contacted in a resiliently deflectable manner.

The amplifier ground and filter ground are separated within the substrate and connected respectively to separate ground terminals on the substrate.
