Abstract: An extractable conversion plug with a safety protection means includes a spring is located between a moveable pillar of a slab and a latching element, inside a connection head, such that the slab can cover conduction pieces through an elastic force from an expansion of the spring, thereby preventing the conduction pieces from being exposed. Upon emplacing the connection head at a base seat, the slab is stopped from moving by a stopper, and the conduction pieces are exposed and are contacted with spring leaves of the base seat, thereby constituting a close-circuit status. When the base seat falls off by accident, a stopping force of the slab is relieved to release a compression force from the spring, which will cause the spring to expand, so as to move the slab to cover the conduction pieces, thereby preventing from getting an electric shock by a careless touch.

One end of the conductive members can be depressed to contact an arbitrary set of the plug pins, and after the cover is closed, the conductive units are depressed to contact the conductive members to force the plug pins to be exposed through the penetration-disposing portions for coupling with an external power source.

Abstract: An interchangeable plug device includes an electrical plug detachably mountable to a casing and movable between a detached and an operative position relative to the casing, and a releasable locking mechanism integral with the electrical plug to maintain the plug in an operative position. The locking mechanism can be released by a user to allow the plug to be moved to the detached position. A preferred form of locking mechanism is a depressible lock bar connected to or integral with an electrical plug body, which is designed to engage a detent in a casing. A preferred form of electrical connection between the plug and any casing comprises a submerged pin and sleeve configuration to protect the user or passerby from electric shock if the plug is detached from its operative position but remains a source of live current. A variety of interchangeable electrical plugs can preferably be fitted to the same casing.

  • Patent number: 6208381
Abstract: A convertible connector arrangement for a video camera includes first and second connector portions. One of the connectors is configured for analog signals and the other for digital signals. The first and second connectors are joined along one side thereof to be pivotally mounted by a mounting member in an installation body, or frame. The mounting member and the joined connectors are configured such that the two connectors are disposed at a predetermined angle in relation to one another. According to pivotal movement of the mounting member, one of the two connectors may be operably disposed in an opening provided in the installation body. The other connection is thus inoperably stored within the video camera or VTR body. A locking mechanism is further provided to assure secure mounting and operability. A video camera utilizing the convertible connector arrangement may thus be selectably converted for analog or digital operation in a secure and efficient manner.

Abstract: A universal adapter that is equipped with retractable pins such that RS232 type of connectors having different numbers of pins or sockets can be connected together. It is further disclosed a method for utilizing such universal adapters by retracting at least one of the retractable pins such that a smaller female connector can be inserted into a larger male connector by retracting a suitable number of pins in the male connector to allow the insertion. The apparatus allows the connection of a 25-pin male connector to any suitable number of sockets in a female connector, i.e. most likely to a 15-socket or a 9-socket female connector. The apparatus enables the use of a single universal adapter in place of a large number of adapters that is conventionally required for making connections between connectors of dissimilar numbers of pins or sockets.
