Abstract: A mounting plate having an orienting portion facilitates orienting the vacuum connection opening of the mounting plate with respect to an anticipated orientation of a receptacle and electrical box. The orienting portion is optionally releasably attachable to the main body of the mounting plate which main body comprises the vacuum connection opening. The mounting plate is mounted prior to installation of the electrical receptacle in the electrical box. The orienting portion of the mounting plate facilitates orienting the vacuum connection opening in a known orientation with respect to an anticipated orientation of the electrical receptacle when inserted in the electrical box. After installation of the inlet valve and the electrical receptacle, a hose cuff having standard electrical terminals oriented with respect to the vacuum connection of the hose cuff may be simultaneously inserted into the electrical receptacle and the vacuum connection opening.

Abstract: Wellhead assembly and method for providing a power connection to a downhole electrical device, such as a heater. Pressure-containing wellhead body members enclose a vertical wellbore and support therein an isolated tubing hanger and a grounding tubing hanger. The isolated tubing hanger suspends a conducting tubing string, while the grounding tubing hanger suspends a grounding tubing string concentrically spaced from the conducting tubing string. The isolated tubing hanger has an outer housing, an inner electrically conducting portion supported by the outer housing operative to provide electrical connection with, and suspend, the conducting tubing string, and insulation between the housing and conducting portion to electrically isolate the housing portion. Hot electrical connection is made for electrical connection to the conducting portion of the isolated tubing hanger or the conducting tubing string.

Abstract: A well completion system, including a packer and a lower signal line connector carried on tubing below the packer. An upper signal line connector is carried on an upper tubing section. The upper tubing is adapted for lowering through the packer into sealing contact with the lower tubing and for operatively connecting the upper signal line connector to the lower signal line connector. A lug on the upper tubing and a profile in the lower tubing interact to rotate the upper connector into alignment with the lower connector. An upper signal line extends from a surface location down the upper tubing to the upper connector. A lower signal line extends from the lower connector down the lower tubing to downhole sensors and/or actuators.

Abstract: A coupling for connecting fuel pipes in an aircraft is provided. At least one of the fuel pipes is capable of movement with respect to the coupling. The coupling comprises a pipe end fitting and a socket arrangement. The pipe end fitting is located within the socket arrangement. At least one resiliently flexible electrical contact is located between the pipe end fitting and the socket arrangement. The coupling may thus form a flexible coupling electrically connecting two pipes to prevent static electricity build-up whilst permitting movement between the pipes.

Abstract: A robust transmission element for transmitting information between downhole tools, such as sections of drill pipe, in the presence of hostile environmental conditions, such as heat, dirt, rocks, mud, fluids, lubricants, and the like. The transmission element maintains reliable connectivity between transmission elements, thereby providing an uninterrupted flow of information between drill string components. A transmission element is mounted within a recess proximate a mating surface of a downhole drilling component, such as a section of drill pipe. To close gaps present between transmission elements, transmission elements may be biased with a “spring force,” urging them closer together.

Abstract: A conduit coupling assembly is provided for interconnecting a pair of fluid conveying members placed in a confronting relationship within the coupling assembly. The coupling assembly includes a longitudinally split coupler having a pair of coupling halves rotatable about a hinge. A plurality of engagement members are mounted on the respective coupling halves for connecting the coupling halves. Electrical conductivity is maintained across the coupling assembly by a bonding wire on each of the coupling halves. Each bonding wire provides multiple points of contact with the metallic flanges of the fluid carrying members. Optionally, the flanges of the fluid carrying members and the coupling assembly may be coated with a conductive coating thereby providing a redundant means to prevent buildup of an electrostatic charge.

Abstract: A combined connector assembly provided for quick, secure fluid and electrical connection includes a socket assembly and plug assembly. The socket assembly can be supported on various structures as a wall outlet or an appliance attachment by means of an adapter assembly. Interlocking means are incorporated with electrical contacts between socket and plug assemblies so that the fluid and electrical connection between the socket and plug assemblies can be quickly and securely established, eliminating the risk of accidental detachment of the plug assembly from the socket assembly. Seals and covers are provided to prevent fluid leakage from the assembly in both connected and disconnected positions. The combined connector assembly of the present invention can be advantageously used to connect an appliance to a water supply and drain system which pumps water to and removes water under vacuum from the appliance through a single hose in a pre-programmed manner.
