Patent number: 8105101Abstract: A lamp socket has a mover and a supporter. At an open position, the supporter supports the mover so that the mover does not prevent a lamp from being moved to or from a mounting position along a specified direction. When the lamp can be moved from the mounting position along the specified direction, the supporter supports the mover so that the contacts do not make contact with lamp pins, respectively. At the close position, the supporter supports the mover so that the mover prevents the lamp from being moved from or to the mounting position along the specified direction. If the mover is at the close position, and the lamp is in a posture by which it can be moved from the mounting position along the specified direction in case of the open position, the supporter supports the mover so that the contacts make contact with the pins, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2008Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ryusuke Kotera, Satoru Uehara

Patent number: 7568930Abstract: The lamp socket according to the invention demonstrates a housing (2) with a rotor (26). Contacts (15, 16), which demonstrate contact tags (17) that are resilient in the swivel direction, are mounted in the housing (2). The open ends (18) of the contact tags can support themselves on stopping means (31 to 34), which are moved by the rotor (26). In the support position, they are positioned on the ends (18) of the contacts (15, 16). When the lamp is rotated from its insertion position into its connected position, the support means (31 to 34) are distant from the ends (18) of the contacts (15, 16), however, so that the lamp can be rotated relatively freely without current. Only near the end of this rotational movement do cams provided on the support means (31 to 34) bump against the ends (18) of the contacts (15, 16) and force them radially inwards and clamp the contacts (15, 16) against the pins (45, 46) of the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2007Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Vossloh-Schwabe Deutschland GmbHInventors: Andreas Brand, Ulf Selve

Optionally, the first contact part (18) is kept in a fixed position with respect to the lamp cap (12) through the spring force of a further spring (22).Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2002Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Petrus Johannes Antonius Linssen

Patent number: 6523975Abstract: An adjustable support member for attaching fluorescent lamps to a light strip fixture body. The adjustable support member is easily adjusted to accommodate fixture bodies having a variety of widths, thereby simplifying the upgrading of existing light fixtures to use more energy efficient bulbs. The support member includes a generally planar support body having a pair of channels formed thereon, and a pair of angle brackets which may be slid into the respective channels to a desired width. The angle brackets are held at a desired width by the ratchet/pawl effect of mating detents formed on the support body and the angle brackets. The channels are formed by stamping generally L-shaped channel members integral with the support body material. A reflector having a center ridge is formed to have a mounting tab by cutting a generally U-shaped opening along the center ridge. The mounting tab is then easily flattened for attachment to the support body for installing the reflector as part of the fixture upgrade.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2001Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Inventors: Jason V. Patent number: 5727869Abstract: A fluorescent light fixture includes an elongated housing for mounting on a wall or a ceiling. A fixed socket is attached to one end of the housing by a fixed connecting arm. A breakaway socket is movably attached to another end of the housing by a breakaway connecting arm. A tubular lens is secured between the sockets, and a fluorescent tube is centered within the tubular lens by a pair of centering rings. The fluorescent tube is completely surrounded by the tubular lens, which diffuses the light in a 360 degree circle. Electrical connectors arranged within the sockets are mated with corresponding terminals on the ends of the fluorescent tube. The breakaway socket is movable away from the housing for releasing the tubular lens and the fluorescent tube, so that the fluorescent tube may be removed and replaced in a limited space. The breakaway socket is movable against the housing for securing the tubular lens and fluorescent tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1996Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Boyd Lighting CompanyInventors: Doyle Crosby, Dale A. Patent number: 5006970Abstract: In a fluorescent light fixture having a panel for supporting thereon an electrical socket assembly for holding a fluorescent tube, a simple, mechanical, manually-effected interlock for securing the socket assembly in a tube-receiving and supporting mode on the panel. The panel itself is formed with a non-rectangular cut-out zone for receiving an upwardly extending wall of the socket assembly inserted upwardly through the cut-out zone, and a base of the socket assembly being then shiftable arcuately to effect interengaging intercoupling between a laterally-opening slot in the base of the socket assembly and a projecting edge of the panel bounding the cut-out zone formed therein. A dimple-like deformation formed in the panel on an underside thereof defines a detent to deter inadvertent mechanical separation of the socket assembly from the panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1989Date of Patent: April 9, 1991Assignee: Kenall Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Edward T.
