Having Radially Movable Thread Means Patents (Class 439/254)
  • Patent number: 8905772
Abstract: Disclosed herein are stretchable, foldable and optionally printable, processes for making devices and devices such as semiconductors, electronic circuits and components thereof that are capable of providing good performance when stretched, compressed, flexed or otherwise deformed. Strain isolation layers provide good strain isolation to functional device layers. Multilayer devices are constructed to position a neutral mechanical surface coincident or proximate to a functional layer having a material that is susceptible to strain-induced failure. Neutral mechanical surfaces are positioned by one or more layers having a property that is spatially inhomogeneous, such as by patterning any of the layers of the multilayer device.

  • Patent number: 8187014
Abstract: Lanyard connectors for release of an ordinance are provided. The lanyard connectors include a coupling sleeve and locking ring movable between a first position and a second position. The lanyard connectors also include a latching spring and a reset spring. The latching spring is partially disposed within a groove in the locking ring in the first position, and removed from the groove in the second position. The reset spring is held in place by a connector cover and interfaces with a second groove in the locking ring. The reset spring is compressed in the second position. The lanyard connectors allow for release of an ordinance receptacle when in the second position. Methods of using the connectors are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7905738
Abstract: A lamp socket is disclosed for connecting an electric bulb, having a base, base contact, and bottom contact, to an electrical grid. The socket comprises (a) a clamp including a spring-loaded embracing section with a first contact, capable of passing the base through in an open position and gripping it in a closed position, and a spring-loaded dielectric retainer, having a second contact, capable of retaining the section in the open position and releasing it into the closed position upon being depressed by the base, and (b) a spring-loaded clasp, capable of expanding the section in to the open position. While the clamp is being in the closed postion, the first contact is depressed by the base contact, and the second contact is depressed by the bottom contact. The section and retainer can be made as a single whole, and spring-loaded by one spring. The socket increases safety of operation.

  • Patent number: 7585187
Abstract: A connector for mounting an LED to a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a hollow cylindrical body portion with an interior sidewall that defines a hollow cavity at one end to receive the LED threaded base section. The second end has a plurality of conductive contact elements with which to electrically contact the LED. A first electrical contact element includes at least one prong extending partially into the cavity. The prong is flexible for the threaded portion to pass the prong for insertion, and partially return to electrically engage the threaded portion to maintain the threaded portion inside the cavity. The prong also permits removal of the LED rotationally with respect to the cavity. The contact elements are in electrical communication with the LED and the threaded base section when the threaded base section is inserted within the body portion.

  • Patent number: 6585533
Abstract: A quick disconnect electrical connector resistant to vibration-induced disconnect includes a male connector and a female connector each having opposing segments of flexible thread which inter-engage when the male and female are assembled. The thread segments of the female connector are on a flexible wall which deflects to permit mating engagement when the two connectors are pushed together. A peripheral rim is formed in the overmold of one connector and a mating groove is formed in the overmold of the other, mating connector to form a tactile indicator that the connection is complete and to secure the two mating connectors together.

  • Patent number: 5013254
Abstract: A tubular body supports an insulator member at its front end which carries a center contact. An electrical lead is connected to the center contact and extends through the tubular body rearward and out of the apparatus. The insulator member and support structure supports a shell or wall spaced from and surrounding the tubular body with an opening facing rearward. A plurality of angularly spaced apart latch openings extend through the shell. A plurality of latches are pivotally supported to the front portion of the tubular body for movement through the latch openings. A sleeve with a cam movable between forward and rearward latching and unlatching positions is located around the tubular body. In the forward position of the sleeve, the cam and a spring move the latches outward through the latch openings and in the rearward position of the sleeve the latches are moved inward through the latch openings. An electrical lead is electrically coupled to the latches by way of the tubular body.

  • Patent number: 4941846
Abstract: A quick connect/disconnect coaxial connector is described which can be used with unmodified standard coaxial couplings having externally-facing threads. The connector includes a coaxial line segment that is mounted inside a housing body. The latter has movable fingers with inwardly-facing ridges that interlock with the external thread of a coaxial coupling. The coaxial line segment interfits with the coupling for a microwave connection and is movably mounted with respect to the housing body. A sleeve having a cam surface is mounted over the housing body whereby, in a forward position, the fingers are caused to close on a coupling and interlock with its thread while in a rearward position, the fingers are allowed to release from the coupling. The coaxial line segment is spring biased so as to normally urge the fingers towards their release position and into coaxial abutment with a coupling when the fingers are interlocked with the coupling's external thread by the sleeve.
