  • Patent number: 6872092
Abstract: A rear open end of each cavity (12) is formed on a contact surface (13A) of a rubber plug accommodation part (13) disposed rearward from the connector housing (11). Inner-side waterproof ribs (14) project rearward from the periphery of the contact surface (13A) to surround the rear open ends. A rubber plug (30) is held inside the rubber plug accommodation part (13) by a rubber plug hold-down member (40) mounted on the waterproof connector (11) rearward of the rubber plug (30). Thus, the rubber plug hold-down member (40) presses the rubber plug (30) forward against the contact surface (13A). The inner-side waterproof rib (14) prevents water from penetrating into the cavity (12) from the gap between the contact surface (13A) and a front surface of the rubber plug (30) through a peripheral surface of the rubber plug (30).

  • Patent number: 6250962
Abstract: A one-piece type waterproof rubber plug 30 is formed with round insertion holes 32 whose inner surfaces can be held in sealing contact with the outer surfaces of a plurality of wires 18 individually inserted into the insertion holes 32 to protect them from water. Female terminal fittings 14 having a box-shaped connection portion 15 are introduced into the insertion holes 32. In the inner surfaces of the insertion holes 32 are formed slits 50 in positions corresponding to corner portions 16 of the connection portions 15. While the female terminal fittings 14 are passing the insertion holes 32 by deforming them, the corner portions 16 enter the slits 50, thereby forcibly opening the slits 50 wider to form clearances 51. The corner portions 16 advance along the clearances 51. This prevents the corner portions 16 from damaging or scratching the inner surfaces of the insertion holes 32.

  • Patent number: 6053753
Abstract: A sealed electrical connector employs electrical contacts located in a housing with multiple contact receiving apertures, deflectable latches, and a seal section. A wire seal is mounted on the seal section, and a seal retainer is latched to the housing to retain the wire seal within the seal retainer and on the seal section. Wire seal sections are positioned within a seal retainer chamber with sufficient annular and radial clearance to permit deflection of the seal section due to transverse forces on the wires, without affecting the seal integrity around the wires. A lock plate is attachable to a housing mating face initially in a pre-staged position and shiftable to a locked position to prevent undesired deflection of the contact latch. The lock plate includes a tab forming an interference fit in a housing slot to hold the lock plate in either the pre-staged position or the locked position.
