  • Patent number: 5601444
Abstract: An apparatus for securing a ribbon cable plug to a 3-in-1 printed circuit board connector. The ribbon cable plug mates with a signals section of the connector and an address section of the printed circuit board connector, adjacent the signal section, includes a plurality of pins that extend from the connector parallel to a line along which the ribbon cable plug is moved to mate the ribbon cable plug with the signals section of the connector. The pins, which have square cross sections, are received in circular sockets formed in one end to a body member of a retaining plug constructed of glass filled polyester. The sockets are sized so that the pins will deform portions of the retaining plug body member about the sockets and thereby clamp the retaining plug to the printed circuit board connector.

  • Patent number: 5354326
Abstract: A connector for establishing an external connection with multiple-conductor implantable leads. The connector body is generally cylindrical in shape and includes a unique twist lock design. The cylindrical connector body has two sections which rotate axially with respect to one another, from an `open` position to a `closed` position. Each of the sections has a longitudinal slot therein extending along its surface parallel to the cylindrical axis of the connector. In the `open` position, the slots in the respective sections are in alignment, forming a single longitudinal opening. The opening is keyed to accept an elongated end piece from a lead stylet, the end piece being attached to the end of the implantable electrode. The end piece supports the end of the lead such that the multiple, spaced apart electrical contacts disposed on the lead are exposed on at least one side.

  • Patent number: 5336934
Abstract: An electrical connection and interlock circuit system (20) operates between a battery (14) and a drive motor (16) of a vehicle electric drive. Circuit system (20) includes a connection circuit (22) having first and second connectors (24) and (26) for energizing the drive motor (16) by the battery (14) and also includes an interlock circuit (28) that operates to electrically disconnect the connection circuit when either connector is in a partially connected position. The circuit system (20) also includes a power connector housing (46) at which the second connector (26) is located along with a third connector (66) that is connected to the drive motor (16), and a mechanical interlock (66) prevents disconnection of the third connector until after the second connector is disconnected so that there is no power at the third connector during its connection or disconnection.

  • Patent number: 5311397
Abstract: A computer assembly comprised of a plurality of modular units which are readily connectable by pluggable terminals to permit quick interchangeability and/or replacement of certain units by untrained and unskilled personnel. The computer assembly includes a docking bay module provided with a number of external connectors for connection to equipment such as a keyboard, printer, cash register, etc., and a power supply plug. A CPU module containing the logic circuitry is slidably mounted in and out of the docking bay module and is readily connected by mating pluggable terminals to the various equipment linked to the external connectors on the docking bay module. A peripheral bay module may be added to the docking bay and CPU modules to function as a file server station in a local area network environment. The CPU module is quickly and conveniently replaced by unskilled personnel for maintenance and repair purposes.

  • Patent number: 5137455
Abstract: An electrical connection structure for connecting an electronic control unit 7, for example in an anti-lock braking system (ABS) or a traction control system, to magnetic valves 2,3, or other load, features a novel plug-and-socket structure which eliminates some of the conventional wiring harness. Magnetic valves 2, 3 are attached on one side to a housing 4 and feature, on their opposing faces, prongs 6 which engage counter-contacts 18 on electronics unit 7, which thus attaches directly to the valve unit. Electronics unit 7 also has sockets to receive contact pins 22 of a relay 23. Electronics unit 7 and valve housing 4 mate in such a way that relay 23 cannot be accidentally unplugged and is protected from environmental influences.

  • Patent number: 5090916
Abstract: The invention relates to a male connector for a telephone and/or data processing communications network. This connector has an insulating support (1), in which are embedded connecting terminals connected to lines of a connection cable (10). It also has a rigid elastic tongue (19) integral with the support (1) and inclined with respect thereto, permitting the locking of the male connector in the female connector, as a result of a shoulder (22) on said tongue. This connector is essentially characterized in that it also has a slide bolt (24) engaging beneath the tongue and connected to the cable (10), in order to release the tongue (19) when pulling takes place on the cable (10), when the male connector is inserted in the female connector.

  • Patent number: 5017147
Abstract: The electric junction box of this invention has a plurality of connector receiving sockets mounted on its insulating box. Selected one of the connector receiving sockets, or the first connector receiving socket, is attached with a locking cover, which is urged by a spring to lie flat over the adjacent or second connector receiving socket. A first connector can be assembled onto the first socket but a second connector cannot be connected to the second socket unless the locking cover is erected and locked onto the first connector. To rule out the slightest possibility of erroneous connection sequence, a connection sequence check member is provided to the second connector.
