Abstract: A modular terminal block for connecting leads or wires to an electrical body includes a module stack of side-by-side module assemblies and an alignment plate. Each module assembly includes a housing, a number of conductors extending from the housing, and a cover member to cover the conductors. The alignment plate accurately positions the conductors despite variations in housing dimension due to manufacturing tolerances. The housing includes walls supported on both sides when forming part of the module stack. The walls resist deflection of the conductors during installation of the alignment plate and electrical body. Each cover member engages and is held closed by a conductor extending from the housing.

  • Patent number: 7484993
Abstract: An ethernet cable connector for coupling an ethernet cable and providing contact between insulated wires of the ethernet cable and insulation displacement contacts within the connector. The connector includes an inner body having a clamp, a plurality of holes and a plurality of recesses transverse to the plurality of holes. Each hole receives a wire of an ethernet cable. The outer body is operatively coupled to the inner body and is configured to couple insulation displacement contacts within the outer body. The insertion of the inner body within the outer body bends the wires of the ethernet cable to rest within the plurality of recesses of the inner body, engages the insulation displacement contacts with the ethernet wires and compresses the clamp around a portion of the ethernet cable, thereby providing strain reduction to the ethernet wires.

  • Patent number: 7485806
Abstract: An electrical connector for connecting flexible metal conduit, armored cable, or metal-clad cable to a panel or junction box. The connector includes a connector body having a tubular nose portion on the leading end and a clamping arrangement on the trailing end. The clamping arrangement includes a fixed clamp arm integral with the connector body and a movable clamp arm that is adjustable with respect to the fixed clamp arm. A tubular insert can be fitted into an inner bore on the tubular nose portion to provide the proper end stop for the cable and to properly insulate the inner bore from any electrical contact with the wire conductors of the electrical cable. The tubular nose portion is exteriorly threaded to accept a lock nut or resilient locking ring for securing the connector to a panel or junction box and for properly grounding the cable to the panel or box.

  • Patent number: 7476120
Abstract: A wire containment cap for reducing horizontal strain on a cable terminated at a communication jack. The wire containment cap is part of the communication jack and includes a strain relief clip that may be actuated to apply pressure to the cable. The applied pressure holds the cable in place and helps prevent wire pairs of the cable from pulling out of terminals in the communication jack.

  • Patent number: 7476817
Abstract: A connector for affixing cables within an electrical box has a body with an insertion end and an opposing receiving end. The insertion end bears outwardly-sloping legs resembling leaf springs, with each leg bearing a channel, so that an electrical box wall may slide over the insertion end with the legs flexing inwardly until the electrical box wall snaps into the channels. The receiving end bears prongs which slope inwardly into an inner body passage, with the prongs also resembling leaf springs, so that the prongs flex outwardly as a cable is inserted into the passage, but at the same time they resiliently flex inwardly to grasp the cable. The body may be formed of a piece of sheet material cut to define a series of petal-like body sections surrounding the insertion end, with the body sections then being bent about the insertion end to define a generally cylindrical body.
